I live in a normal size 3 bedroom house. I have trouble (guessing dead spots) on my ipad in 3 rooms. 2 Upstairs, 1 downstairs. I have a BT hub.
Would getting a good Wi-Fi Range Extender make any difference for me? If so, what one would you recommend?

I had powerline plugs, they are ok - perfect for hardwiring - but i could not get them to mirror the router signal with out a separate issue so ended up with 2 wifi access and would have to manually change from one to another depending on where in the house I was.

I now have the BT wholehome mesh system - John lewis was doing the twin pack cheap - think they were being delisted leaving only single or tripple packs. One plugs into the router and the other somewhere else in the house. Set up is super easy. It mirrors the wifi router so you deactivate the transmitter in the router and just use the BT system. I have solid signal across the house and even a usable lag free signal at the bottom of the garden 25m away. One is downstairs in the front of the house and the other upstairs at the back

Ive got a couple of Netgear ones in my house which work ok. I have an amazon Firesick and when I check signal strength from the router I get "fair". When I check the network from the extender (same network name but with Ext added on) the Firestick shows it as "very good". It never buffers and works fine. The only issue I get is that sometimes my Alexa Echo Dot and a wifi socket for some hidden lights confuse the network and the firestick refuses to connect. I then have to switch everything off, reboot the router and forget the networks from my Firestick, then reconnect. It doesn't happen very often.

What budget do you have in mind. It can get expensive very quickly. You could get a set of home plug and an old router and make the second router an access point.

I was looking for something I could just plug in and away we go kind of thing.

Morning,

In that case may be look at the mesh systems from BT or TP Link.

Another vote for a Mesh.
I have the BT one and when I got it (two years ago) the firmware and app was a bit flakey but, in last 12 months it’s been pretty perfect.

I have a TP AV 600 (I think) which we no longer use since changing router. Yours for postage, pm me if interested

Cheers

No, don’t think you can have two routers connected to one line.

Maybe.

I have a slightly larger house and had dead spots. I fitted 2 wifi range extenders (the ones you replace power sockets with). They worked fine for some areas but in others appeared to conflict with each other. Googling up after the event suggests that more than 1 range extender can be a bad idea.

I swapped to BT Mesh and it works really well. Slightly expensive and a little fiddly to set up with my Huawei modem (it's supposed to be much easier with anything else).

This pack works perfectly in a 4 bedroom house

If you want to try the extenders, I forgot to return them so I keep meaning to list them in the classifieds.

Thats a good price I paid £70 for the 2 pack when the 3 pack was circa £150. at the time it was cheaper for me to buy the twin and a seperate 3rd than the tripple pack

Just got a tp link mesh system for my dads bungalow I think it was £80 . Very good indeed
