I, and I feel anyone who is, or has served (especially in recent times) will agree that this would be a horrid concept.
Some of the guys (& girls) we have joining now are fantastic, others are, less than.
They 'know their rights', know exactly how far they can push, that they cant get a slap for choppsing off.
For some, training is the first glimpse of discipline, and they dont like it one bit.
I was a typical brat when I joined at 17, I made the then fatal mistake of gobbing off to an NCO, and I damn quick discovered the error of my ways, ironically I am now quite good mates with the guy who educated me.
On the subject of kids, my young one, who I love more than anything in the world, is currently testing the boundaries.
I had typed an example, but then thought about the world we live in and did not fancy a SWAT style visit from the SS (social services)
I do not in any way condone the use of violence in kids that some seem to think is ok, however I do feel that its all about escalation, a swift backhander from my dad has not turned me into a wife beater or serial killer, and we have a great relationship!
