No
Why on earth would someone pass images off as their own when their clearly not.
I found an image of mine on somebody else's website passing it off as theirs.
Why?
It has had my name removed which we all know is easy to do.
If this isn't bad enough I know the chap involved.
In fact I was sitting in a hide with him a voile of weeks ago.
Beggars belief.

Why.

I'm going to. Just need to work out a plan so I don't lose my temper.

Could you do in such a way that he is really embarassed in front of a load of mates/aquaintances/boss/family?

Not many things worse than being made to look stupid!

I'm going to give it a couple of days before I say anything.
The photograph is an owl in flight & it's a bit different from the usual owl in flight shots.
Some people never cease to dissappoint.

Disappoint.

How about invoicing him for usage?

How's about posting the pic up so we can see what all the fuss is about

Too much politeness in this forum. Name the photographer and link to his website. These people deserve no anonymity.

Why do people cheat at exams? Some people have no integrity, and if they realise they can't achieve their goals via talent, hard work and honesty, they'll cheat, lie and steal.

Simple really.

Don't worry about it. It's not as if he can sell a low res JPEG or anything.

Just send him a message saying, "I know you didn't make that image.. You know you didn't make that image, so we both know you're a talentless hack and that you wish you were as good as I am".

Sit back and know that somewhere, someone's blood is boiling with self loathing and anger.

This^

The OP can be polite if he feels the need, but the general feeling amongst photographers is a little bit of 'peer pressure' is often the best solution. Not bullying mind - just a few choice words.

Why link to the offender's site? All that does is get the site a few more hits as people visit to see the offending shot (and others). Just name him/her and if people can be bothered to Google and visit the site, more fool them!

I very much doubt the tiny amount of traffic that will be funnelled to his site via a single thread on a hobbyist photography forum is likely to help him in any major way.

If anything, linking to his site will probably bring this thread up on Google whenever his name is searched for. Since Google will undoubtably hold this website's content in higher authority than his.

It's all sorted. I spoke to him & he's apologised.

He said he didn't know how the file got on his computer.

I said I'd like to believe you but how come the copyright & my name have been removed.

Yeah, I do that all the time. I had a shot of Sean Connery in a Louis Vuitton ad on my computer, so I put it on my website. Turns out it was originally shot by Annie Leibovitz.

thats got to be the worst excuse since "the dog ate my homework"

Why not drag the image into Google image search and find out how many more copies there are out there ;)

Come on then, show us this image that was worth stealing. ;)

I've already posted it. Was probably about a year ago in the bird section.

I don't think re-posting the image will achieve anything though.
