I keep seeing adverts for people to find out their credit score, why would any one want to know ?

In case they needed credit and wanted to be sure they'd get it? Or if they were refused credit and wondered why?

the ones where they show what services youre more likely to get approval for are quite handy.

Although they are commission based so not necessarily the best deals available. I take no notice of them.
I’m sure they can be helpful to those with poor credit ratings.

I use noddle, it's free and was actually quite informative. I got a friend to try it out who then discovered a C.C.J. against her due to a private parking fine which had gone to an old address.

I am an old sod so I am not bothered, however I may require trauma councelling for that stupid credit score ad, with the guy, his wife and the dog (who speaks better English than his wife), whose only interest in life is to know their credit score - life is passing me by at an alarming rate.

I don't know or care what my credit or cholesterol score is, if I did it wouldn't make a jot of difference.

Well if you know your cholesterol score it could save your life ?

Along with a thousand other things, think we were much happier before we knew so much health related stuff.

Just been up the local market, so many old people shuffling along like zombies, same everywhere, outstaying our welcome I think.

I found out years ago that someone had used my details to take out a payday loan 3 years earlier when I was declined for a credit card (only name, not address or bank yet it was still linked to me). Funnily enough I wasn't declined car finance during that time so didn't think anything of it. If planning to apply for credit (mortgage/loan/new credit card) I'd want to know that everything else is in good shape and paid off beforehand to reduce the risk of rejection. By getting a report every 2 months I know my details haven't been used.
