interesting... as a "spectacle maker" i can see they automate and uplicate a lot of things that can be done bespoke

There is a whole layer of stuff missing.. these are glass lenses, many of the camera lenses we use incorporate plastics. Additionally, the video only shows the manufacture of spherical lenses (not Aspherical lenses) The Genius is in the design stage, and not one part of that is shown either

|I would say the Nikon and Canon factories ar a lot more automated than what is shown. Nowadays there are computerised focimiters that can determine the optical axis of a lens and line things up etc.. Also a lot of lens manufacture uses CNC technology, which wasn't shown

An excellent video. Took me back 30 years to when I made documentary films with Super 8. Do you know how old the video is, or is the same technique still used today?
