There's always one...

I'd be more tempted by a hot pink screwdriver![]()

Well said, end of discussion and willy waving from the fanboys......![]()
Its a tool......
@ this threadShhhhhhh!! Don't tell people the secret!@ this thread
yawl need to kick back with a latte, its just a bit of fun..![]()
It can be labelled tacky, if it looks tacky. Since when did there have to be a range of
Something to be considered tacky. You never looked at a toy from a pound shop and thought "tacky" without having to see it on pink??
Personal opinion anyhow. Ok, they look awful, cheap, ugly, and grey. I don't know where this "white" even comes
From.
That's better, this post was on the verge of going all sensible!Nikon fan boy, no need to hate the player, hate the game.
Yours is such a skewed post, how can anyone say a Canon L lens "looks cheap"?
I cant stand this critisism of other makes simply because you own a different one, its the same with phones, tablets etc etc. Its pathetic.
White lenses are awful, but they do the job too, how else are you to advertise you're a div.....aaaand bring home the bacon at the same time ??
Unfortunately in this thread there have been signs of either jealousy or trolling, certain posters who own the other brand saw fit to call L lenses "tacky", and Canon users "divs".
It seems more likely they were out for a troll, and hoping to start an argument.
The Canon L owners have actually been quite restrained with most answers, IMO.
... I called their lenses tacky before I ever found this forum ... and I know I'm not the only one who labels them so. I've said it in person to Canon users! And they just laughed it off, as they should...
...I have a friend who shoots Canon. We constantly banter about each others choice. But it's only in jest. That's how it should be kept...

All the companies should just merge together and make one brand. We can then all go into a shop and ask for a "CANIKSONPUSTAX"
Problem solved![]()
I thought on that before. My version was Caniksontaxusonic lol.
I'd buy either, probably. Just for the uber tackiness!!
haha, not my cup of tea indeed.
In saying that even though I own Canon cameras I have to agree with the above, I don't particularly care for the look of the white lens, I much prefer the stealthy black look.
I do a fair bit of aviation photography. I would say that it's fairly even across the board. There is quite a following for the D300 and 300mm 2.8 and 400mm 2.8. I use the 200-400mm. Its perfect for Airshows.

When there are quite a few of us having a big boys day out, often he is in the minority. Often 3-1 in favour of Nikon.
I suppose one day, he'll see the light.....
Kev.
the white (or in my case silver) definitely keeps the lens body cooler in the sun & if youdon't like it you can always put a cover on it.it ain't just the Canon lenses I dislike the look of [in fact, Sony too have tacky 'whites']
you mean the NEX-7 in drag? ...anyone seen the new Haselblad?
oh, & a lot dearer. It's always going to be a bit of a leapfrog thing in terms of both performance & indeed price with replacements. Look at how much more the new Nikon 80-400 is compared to the old one & imagine that applied to the 400, 500 & 600.Ah, now you have moved up the price range
Once you get over £1.2k ish for lenses then it makes financial sense to go Nikon if nothing else. There isn't much in it quality wise although plenty of action folk switched Nikon when the D300 came out purely due to the superb autofocus!
