Why shoot nude?

I'm just one of these folk who can't see what all the fuss is about over a naked body.
Then, don't shoot 'em, simple. :)

Different people are attracted to shooting different things, and for different reasons.

I think I prefer clothed - most bodies do look better covered up at least to some degree and there is a lot less post processing to get that "perfect" look that seems to be essential for naked skin which makes the final image artifical anyway so it might as well have remained clothed
I'm the same, I generally prefer to shoot models clothed too, but some models just have a "look" when nude that doesn't work clothed. Some models are actually more relaxed and comfortable shooting nude than clothed, and it isn't always a photoshop nightmare in post. :)

But... from a photography perspective why shoot nude?
I just did my first art nudes over the last few days with two different models, both times because it was the model that wanted to. They can present some interesting and challenging lighting problems, beyond the typical clothed shoots, to make it more about the form, and less about the fact that it's a photo of a naked female.

There's a difference between art nudes and glamour nudes.

I hear what you're saying...

Let me get this off the ground, and the next time you're in this part of the world I'd like for you to drop by and make that calendar you were contemplating. Only this time, it wouldn't be female troopers, but more Arabian Bikini & Abaya ;) ... I kid you not, it's on the plates :)

Wail, some of the best nude shots I've seen haven't shown the models' faces at all, and I'm guessing that nobody in your part of the world would recognise any woman (possibly including their own wives) without the face showing. A couple of strategically placed veils can also work wonders - not only to conceal identities but to add a hint of mystique.

Exactly what I am aiming for with the implied-nudes. The viels, the black gowns worn over dresses, these all add an element of glamour.

But reading your comment "I'm guessing that nobody in your part of the world would recognise any woman (possibly including their own wives) without the face showing"; are you saying I wouldn't know my wife naked without seeing her face :p .. I assure you we do have sex with the lights on, and eyes open :bat:

And no, I don't mean take yer cacks off before taking photos! I'm curious as to the advantages or attraction to shooting nude models.
Kgo...

For me I think that human skin is an amazing substance, the naked human body is such a natural thing, that to study it, to display good examples of it just seems to make sense.

That said, whilst I might take photos of my fiancée but I doubt if I'll ever share the more revealing ones here, despite how proud of her I am.

Also guessing that you're not most people in your part of the world and that you're considerably more open minded than yer average local too!
