As title really[emoji4]

Given the proliferation of tv channels and shopping channels these days why is there nothing just for photography?

Given the high incidence of GAS with the hobby surely something demonstrating technique whilst selling (among other things) would be viable?

I guess fact there isn't suggests not which is a shame

Thought about this a while ago. There are certain "hobbies" that are covered quite well, while photography only seems to be found when it is time for the Countryfile Calendar.

Imagine how boring it would soon become.?
If it was cost effective it would already be done..

Whilst fact not done suggests not viable I cannot see why it need be boring. Surely enough strands to photography for material ad infinitum. Selling gear after demonstrating just method to fund such a channel.

Community channel on Sky would be a good home for such a venture. Think it would prove popular even if just few hours a week like the Motorhome channel. That keeps going despite being a lot more niche.

Selling gear shown on a TV show? The coffee in the Ofcom waiting room is awful and you'd be spending some time there.

There's enough on digi rev to keep you watching a while

Think about car shows for a moment. Cars have a much broader appeal than serious photography. Casual photographers just want to do it, and not think about it. But still there are few car shows. As real world cars are not appealing. Do you want to see a review of some cheap KIA? Like do you want to see reviews of the bottom of the line compact cameras? So all that leaves is to top of the line gear... with explosions.
"Get Chris Evans" I hear you cry.

Totally appreciate some great stuff on the internet but very disparate.

Thinking of something along lines of craft channels demonstrating and selling with interactive community element.

I will watch alone should it ever happen[emoji3]

My cheap Kia is jollly nice, thank you very much.

Mike Browne - simple videos - not too long. AND you don't feel intimidated by the images he produces. Watched a lot of his stuff.

TV is dying as a medium. The future is internet TV like amazon and youtube. I give it 5-7 years max.

MSM TV is all about spreading consumerism, making consumers, building brand loyalty and spreading political propaganda. They don't want you active and creative. Hence no photography or whatever positive channel.

Totally agree. Natural educator and has been on TV with the nations "favourite" gardener Alan Titchmarsh. Ideal front man for the new channel[emoji4]

Are you being ironic or do you really not realise you drive a Hyundai?
They're out of the same factory, think Austin/Morris only more so. I was going to buy a Ceed but I got this I30 for much less money

Are they? Fair enough though still think it's a little odd to call it a Kia I mean I came out the same factory as my sister but that doesn't make me Helen

Kia and Hyundai share the same design facilities in Korea and Europe, with Kia and Hyundai together on all the signage. The vehicles share platforms and technologies too.
I like bland.
Flanders: "Ooh my favorite flavor... Plain!"

I mentioned a "cheap Kia" because I thought it was not exciting enough for anyone to sign up to Prime just to see such a show. I didn't mean to put Kia cars down. They will take over the world.

Don't worry about it.

I love it when people take the p*** out of my cheap Kia.

The best car in the world has an engine, four wheels, a steering wheel and gets from A to B.

Yes exactly that's all you need I don't see the point of spending a lot of money on a car I would rather spend it on gear and traveling taking photos

Mike Browne is a complete idiot who does not understand that changing your viewpoint changes the perspective of a scene.
I had an email exchange with him in which he was adamant that changing focal length without moving your position would change the perspective of a scene.

I wouldn't trust ANYTHING from someone this ignorant of the basic laws of photography.

Happy to be another idiot then. I don't believe everything I see on you tube, but I take what people say on board and then see what happens.
