Just this really.
I have taken around 15K shots since I turned digital, and of the 600 odd shots on Flickr, I am very concerned that the ones getting the highest number of hits are of well known people .
Is this normal?

I guess on the whole there is more demand for pictures of Famous Mr / Mrs X than there is of Unknown Mr / Mrs Y, even if the latter shots are technically much better.

A lot of your hits probably come from the related search terms. Presumably you've used the celeb names in the tags or titles.

depends if your using their name as a tag, then i would say definitely. people search for celebs all the time hth mike

As said, if you have used celebrity names in your tags, etc. of course they will be seen far more in searches than photos of your mate, or a flower (for example).

Not sure what this has to do with being worth more though, as per your title.

the question suprises me more than anyhting.. of course celebraties will get viewed more... try a naked celebrirty to prove the point :)

Looking at your Flickr all becomes clear.

You have photos called _DSC5277-1 and the like with no other tags. No one will search for this, and they are not in any groups, hence small amount of views!

Whereas you have other photos with famous cyclist names in the title, and that's what gets you your hits.

There is sadly a very big market of certain celebrity pics. You know, something like 'she' has gained weight, maybe XXX is pregnant, XYZ is wearing pyjamas when emptying rubbish. Awful stuff

Why are you concerned? Take the celebrities' name out of the tags if you're bothered. Put a popular word in as a tag, it gets searched for more. I thought that would have been obvious.

picture editers looking for freebies they can lift :D

Turn this around, why did the OP photograph the "celebrity" in the first place?

if you want to get more hits on your photos ?just include the word "pussy" in the title here with 1267 hits to prove my point ....... not to mention its a great photo of course

more sleepy pussy cats
by Mike Rockey, on Flickr

This reminds me of an example all be it a really odd one, a recent photo I shot after it my foot was really hurting so in the description part of it said something like "boy did my feet really hurt after that" the amount oh hits that gets for the search term "boy feet" is shocking

The moral of this story is, never start a thread when you are absolutely sozzled, because the so called artistic/creative qualities of alcohol are far outweighed by the effect it has on the brain cells, particularly those which are responsible for logic and reasoning:oops:

the number of hits i got for my bird table pictures that were tagged "birds" "Great tits" "rain" was astronomical - i'd guess a lot of viewers were sorely disapointed
