Why Government killjoys are trying to ban wedding day pictures

have had this for quiet a while where you have to have a blank book for the photo

Typical press hype and over reaction. They don't want you taking shots of the register, they're not trying to stop wedding photographs altogether. I'm sure it's easy enough to stage the shot later with a dummy book.

The only wedding I ever did in a registry office, they said no photographs during the ceremony including the signing but were happy to stage it afterwards.

I just want to know who the grubby little person is who sits in their dingy little office full of dolls with pins in thinking of a way to ruin my day.
What would their job title be I wonder?
Photography Restriction Image Capture Killer........or for short PRI............................You can work it out.

I never encountered this problem at all with any church or civil ceremony. I did though always tend to take the shot from a lower viewpoint and often from the front, so it would never have been an issue anyway.

Sad sign of the times I'm afraid. :cuckoo:

Typical press hype and over reaction
maybe that's why i don't buy the daily mail....

It's going to be easier and quicker to tell us what we CAN photograph before long.

had to do that at my wedding two years ago, yet now they decide it needs reporting:shrug:

The two registry office weddings I photographed last summer didn't allow me to photograph the actual book signing, just a staged re-creation in the other corner of the room with a fake book.

When I was married in 1991 we had to "pretend" to sign it for the shots after the real signing was done, I can't remember what the reason was , I always assumed that God didn't like it

Every wedding I've shot has had a setup shot after the actual signing - not really that much of an issue imo as they've always replaced the pen with fancy quill pens for extra effect

Somebody somewhere in Whitehall should get a real life

The press are just boosting this to make a story.
The wedding I covered.. they stopped me while they signed.. then brought out a dummy book that looked the same with text.. they I was allowed to shoot..
So what?

Brilliant! I saw the thread title and thought 'oh, that must be the Daily Mail'
What a surprise to see I was spot on.

When are people going to realise that a lot of whats written in Newspapers (especially the Daily Mail) is pure and utter Bull **** designed to wind you up and buy a copy.

Mind you, if it means I wouldnt have to see Z list celebrities like Sian LLoyd smiling with some old pensioner they just married then maybe I might vote Labour after all.

i believe the common thing for a Daily Mail 'reader' is to read the headline only and then respond with:

'Political correctness gone mad!!!'

either that or blame immigrants / terrorists / muslims / all of the above* for it somehow

*delete as applicable

Typical Daily Mail. ffs dont tell them the Beatles split up fnar fnar. I'm only suprised they didn't mention the impact on property prices and that this was most likely down to Johnny Foriegner....
'Dummy' books have been used for years and the 'signing' of the registry book is anything but, as mentioned above it is a set up with an attractive pen and big smiles.
It really is the Tory wives rag, why people buy into the Daily Mail i'll never understand.:bang:

"There is also a high risk of damage to the register with a fountain pen when the bride and groom are looking at the camera and not the pen."
LOL
That caught my eye too, but you beat me to it. How many marriages are there in the UK each year? Somewhere around 250-500,000, I reckon. How many registers are damaged? Er...

what a pile of complete and utter horse sh**.
at EVERY wedding we have ever done, be it registry office, civil ceremony or church. weve ALWAYS done a DUMMY register signing. the staff simply turn to a blank page and we shoot them PRETENDING to sign the register.
EVERY venue makes it clear to togs, pro or otherwise, that the ACTUAL register is a legal document, and you cant photograph it.
in fact ,due to recent rule changes , at mansfield register office at least, you can now shoot the ceremony too.which you previously couldnt.

sounds like yet another beaurocratic arse changing the rules, when they dont need changing.
pillocks.

And people read and believe this tripe...

No it doesn't. Look at the source of the story. It's the Daily frickin Mail. Why would anyone a) Post a link from a paper which isn't even fit to wipe your arse with and b) why would anyone reading this post pay any attention to it given a)

As for the comment about giving further justification to move to the States, I think you'll find that they've had their freedoms eroded so much since 11th September that you'll have a rude awakening.

I can't believe you guys suggesting a newspaper would write a silly/inflammatory story just to sell newspapers !!!

Whatever next, adverts on tele to get us to buy things too?

World's gone mad IMHO

Dummy book-signing has gone on for many years as others have said, after all, we wouldn't want to see proof that the couple listed as getting married today actually did would we - we couldn't half run amok with that info, it'd be sooooo dangerous

DD

How recent? My dad got married there about a year ago, and we were told we could take photos before and after, but not during.

Well I have a lovley close up of the couple signing the register from Thursday! Better delete it..... or not :D

Won't be long before they ban the use of flashguns in churches etc!

I am sorry to say I was a Daily snail reader out of habit more than anything else - up until the time Dianna died and all the papers used it as a oportunity to boost sales by publishing suppliments etc. Since then I am proud to say, I have never bought ANY newspaper at all.

If anything important happens in the world I get to hear it from friends and family - and on here of course ;-)

When I got married first time round back in 1989 we had to use a blank page of the register. That was in church. So as some one has already said it's all a load of press hype at another PC story.

Why would anyone a) Post a link from a paper which isn't even fit to wipe your arse with.

Because I got sent it in an email from a friend and thought it would be interesting.

Thanks for your kind comment though ;) And I'd like to see you trying to wipe your arse with my laptop :lol::lol::lol::lol:

This just adds to my huge list of justifications to move to America.

I would advise you check out the restrictions there before you flee, in particular, the Patriot Act. Even your library book borrowing habits can be viewed by the FBI without a warrant. America is not the land of the free it once could claim to be...
