Just wondering why lightroom uses Brightness +50, Sharpening +25 and contrast +25 as defaults for RAW images ?

Do people stick with these settings or use their own ?

Just wondered if there was any science behind them arriving at these values....and what better alternatives might be ?

TIA,
Mike.

Raw images straight out of the camera need some processing. Just set these values to zero and see the effect. The default figures are simply what Adobe think give a good starting point.

You are free to change these and make your own if you think they are not right for you. In general I've these to be a good starting point anyway

As John say set the values to zero then make your own preset and apply it on import, chances are though your pics will look worse.

Yep i realise they need tweaking but was suprised to see brightness say at +50 by default.

What do others find works well as presets ?
