Was hoping to sell my barely used 30d body when i get to 100 posts, as i originally thought it would be surplus to requirements after the 5d arrival. I now wonder whether i should keep it for the faster fps and the crop factor - i have 20 posts to make my mind up !

I would say that gives you 5-7 posts to ask the differences between a 30D and a 40D, then 4-5 posts to compare a 40D and a 1D2, and finally 3-4 posts to compare the 30D and a 1D2. Maybe one post to bring it all together and compare the 3.
At which time you will have enough posts to put the 30D in the for sale forum and get it sold, and go out and get a used 1D2, and maybe 2-3 weeks to realise that you are actually shooting with the 1D2 more then then 5D.
