I regret selling my 100-400 L so much. Winter had got me down, lack of interesting long range shots to capture in Bedfordshire, so I figured, higher quality shorter glass instead. Now spring is here, I'm seeing shots everywhere, I'm about to start travelling, argh.

Any cheaper, comparable options, or am I going to have to lay out the 825 I got for that lens on another copy?

If you didn't use the money for something else then why did you sell it??

I used the money for a 17-55 f2.8 and a 30mm f1.4, but I could comfortably buy another, it's just I try and budget myself with photography equipment or else I'll go overboard.

Maybe consider the 70-300L as an alternative option if you wanted to try something a bit different?

I'd prefer the 100mm more at the long range than the 30mm at the shorter, although the newer build, IS etc of the 70-300 would be preferred.

could try the sigma, ok I know its up to 500 but it is supposed to be a cracking lens for a lot less.
