Why can't I play Flickr videos?

I can on my spare laptop (XP) & on my desktop (Vista) but can't on my new laptop which is Windows 8 the viewing screen just holds on 'loading'. Could do with some suggestions as Googling hasn't turned up the answer for me.

are you in the IE app? or in desktop mode.
A lot of stuff doesn't work in the IE App (including flash) from the main screen.
if in doubt click the spanner in the bar bottom right and click 'view on the desktop'.

See if that works.
 
Thanks for your very fast replies. I just downloaded Firefox which I have been know to use and tried from that and it says I need the latest version of Adobe Flash Player so I guess that could be the answer on IE which I have ben using on the new laptop.

I don't go through the Windows 8 interface for anything but just tried it and clickd the spanner and picked desktop but no joy.
 
So now on Firefox I have got the videos working by downloading the latest flash player direct from Adobe but IE still not working. So I now know I will either move over fully to Firefox or just use it for the odd (but not very often) time I want to view a video - but what a faff :gag:
