Edit My Images
Yes
I haven't put any photos on here for a while mainly because I haven't really bothered taking any due to the poor light. However, saturday I used my 300mm lens and got some lovely photos so I thought I'd share and here we are, almost a day later and they've had hardly any views and no comments whatsoever.

Now this is a decent forum but as with all forums it's the members what make it what it is and when those members provide content and get no response it makes them wonder why the hell they bother.

I know it does me.

Well with around 30 images posted in the thread it's a little hard to know where to start

That isn't to say you don't have a point but I always take the view that the sharing sections are just that, for sharing your images. If you want feedback post a couple of the best in the In-depth section.

edit to add: that as you replied in your own thread it wouldn't have appeared in the list of threads with no replies so those that watch out for them wouldn't have seen it in the first place.

Perhaps it's merely that nobody in that sub-forum has felt they could offer you anything approaching constructive criticism. Sure, nobody likes to be ignored, but be thankful you haven't had a loads of replies with 'nice shots' and 'very nice' which don't really help anyone.

Unless you'd prefer that, in which case I'll be only too happy to offer you some meaningless feedback to massage your ego. I somehow doubt that is the case though.

And yes as pxl8 says, there are far too many to post comment on except the meaningless 'Nice set' sort of comments

As someone who doesn't watch/appreciate football though - they leave me cold, except the more human interaction ones and individual's shots, a couple of which are humorous

Trying posting just one next time, your 'Best' one in your opinion - and feel free to PP it a bit, these look a bit like 'straight out of camera snaps' to me - soz, not meaning that to be painful if indeed it is :)

I agree - there are a few good images there but you posted so many nobody is going to look through them all in detail. Try it as PXL8 suggests - if you want feedback put one or two of what you think are the good ones, in the correct place for critique then I think you'll get the feedback you want.

Point me in the direction of where you posted them and I'll have a look.

BTW, I don't suppose I am alone here, but I just could not spend the time looking at everything on this forum There is so much.

I deliberately didn't post the link to them so as not to draw comments for what I've posted, it was more as one of frustration at the time I takes to add them to the forum with some kind of description only to see no response.

And for me a reply is a reply, "nice shot" might seem inane but at least it shows that people have taken the time to comment!

And out of the camera "snaps"? Pah. Those are top notch football photographs. Snaps indeed

DiddyDave already had

A little patience and perhaps tolerance might get you more comments on your original post. Some people do work :)

I agree what has been said in that less is often more. I personally also feel specific question(s) about images help people give responses. ie: which works best for you?, or is there anything I can do to improve this picture?

I wouldn't take it personally, I think the set are okay but football pics don't do much for me so I didn't comment - sorry.

Found them, but football is a turn off for me so I'll give this one a body swerve.

And for me a reply is a reply, "nice shot" might seem inane but at least it shows that people have taken the time to comment!
We could all go and do that if it would make you feel better, but it sure won't help your photography.

"Nice shot" tells you nothing at all, other than someone felt obliged to post - unless it comes from a hardened Sports tog, in which case it may mean something  or they may be patronising you

I've just looked through them again, I still think they look like 'snaps' - and none of them would make it past my delete button

:shake:

I can't believe I'm reading this!

You clearly don't have a eye for a decent photo then :cuckoo:

Only 5 clicks found your pics and I must agree the sheer number of them would put a lot of folk off, I like to look at and admire images posted on here if I find them interesting, and comment when feel like it, football I do not find interesting.
As suggested you should have chose the best in your opinion and you may have had a better chance of attracting the opinions of others.

So let's get this straight. you complain no-one is giving you critique, then when someone does and it's not what you want to hear, it's them that don't have an eye for a decent photo?

So you were just posting them for people to tell you how wonderful they are.

If that's true, then I bow to your superiority

Please accept my most sincere apologies for being both a twit & crap photographer

:'(

I'm not though, as I've said I didn't provide a link to the thread in the first place because my gripe is about the fact that I put up a bunch of excellent photos on here and they barely merited a ripple.

I like to have a browse through the photo sharing sections and if theres something that I think is well done I'll say so and vice versa if it isn't. However sometimes the sound of silence can be deafening and rather disappointing.

Like I said, it makes one wonder why they bother to share what they've done.

Any feedback is appreciated, as I posted on the original thread. There were two away fans taking photos which have been posted on their website and compared to mine they look awful, I can say that cos I know a decent football photo when I see one. Calling them snaps is just ignorant and wrong just because I can get what I want using a camera and don't have to *******ise a photo in photoshop to get a positive reaction.

Sometime threads just get missed. It's happened to me a number of times and sometimes I start getting a run of replies a few days later. As said, because you posted twice in the thread, it didn't appear in the unanswered post section. It could also be that the people who would appreciate your style of photography haven'e been around much over the last 24 hours.

I was being sarcastic ;) to add humour

Calling me ignorant though :bat:

And errr... I can't see that anyone has given you a positive reaction m8 :shake:

I really don't understand that sentence at all. If he wants to call them snaps then that is his choice, what has photoshop got to do with it?

Too many shots, end of.

I'm in no position to comment on the technical aspect of football shots but that many shots is just overload. You will get people look at the first 2-4, then keep scrolling. After shot 4 I expect few people read the captions and it was probably a chore even for people who like the subject to get to the end.

Now, post 6-8 of what you think are the best as photographs not a game commentry and I bet you will get more replies.

I consider using the word "snaps" to describe photographs on a photography forum as derogatory.

There was once a time when you could post anything on here and get comments/critique in little time, that was prior to the explosion in the sales of digital cameras.
You might think that with the increase in membership it would all be relative with more posting and more commenting, I do not believe this to be the case as their are now more postings from inexperienced members than before who will not be commenting on other images until they feel confident enough.
I would not be upset if I received no comments on a posting, it is getting very competitive on the forum now and a posting can quickly disappear from the page.

But where does photoshop come into it?
Read my post. He called them snaps straight off the camera and I replied that I felt confident in my ability to be able to take a photograph using just my camera without the need to b@st@rdise it using photoshop.

Well maybe that's his opinion. Maybe he felt that they could have benefited from a little PP as do all digital photos, even if it's just to teak contrast and sharpen a little. Have to say that, having looked at them now, I'm inclined to agree.

I replied! and i hate football!:D

Feel free to post your opinions of the photos on the thread with my photos in then and be sure to point out which ones and I'll give it a go and see if it helps.

However posting that on this thread doesn't really help and only serves to take this off topic.

How is it taking it off topic? You posted a thread asking why you've not had critique.

As has said, there are too many photos in your thread and I don't have time to go through them all individually.

Well I would not call using photoshop b@st@rdising an image, so what you are saying is anyone using photoshop on a normal image lacks confidence.

:'(:'( Just when I was starting to gain more confidence:'(:'(

Tigerimages, you are doing yourself no favours in this thread.

Maybe now would be a good time to back away from the thread for a while.

Possibly even read This
