Yes
Yeah OK I know its having a wotcha at the histogram on the back of he cammy, but why (and I do it lots).

Primates in the Zoo dont have cammys, just b'nanas...

Am I being dense (usual)?

I saw a picture once of a guy chimping with a BIG white L lens attached to his camera sitting on some steps with his feet giving balance to his camera/lens. Really looked like a chimp.

when a photographerÂ’s sounds and actions of reviewing frames on-scene appear similar to the actions of an excited monkey. (Oooh! Oooh! Aaah!), (and I do it lots).

Paints a pretty picture ... ... NOT ... ;)

It's something we all do - anyone who says they don't is either using film or telling porkies! ;)

LOL! I remember the first time I discovered the expression "chimping" - I was at Silverstone with Beverley and Joe T. It was the first time I met Joe and he was showing me how to pan properly for motorsport photog. After a little while I started to get the hang of it and could see my shots improving almost take by take. Eventually I got what I considered to be my killer shot of the day :) I was looking at the display on the back of my camera and excitedly shouted to Beverley something like
"Oooh Oooh Bev, look at this one ooh it's a great shot ooh come and see it", whilst jabbing my finger excitedly at the camera.

Joe, having seen this, pi**ed himself laughing and explained that was a "classic" example of chimping.

From that day onwards I try so hard not to do it but, every now and again that one killer shot creeps in and there I go again...... Oooooh Ooooh ahhh look at this one oooh :D

quality videos there joe. made me laugh!

"im a recovering chimpoholic and i havent chimped for 30 seconds"

hahaha

oooh ooh look at this one! We both do it!!

I say its lovely even when I can't see cos I haven't got my glasses on...:naughty:

I always thought chimping was checking shots after taking a few, but it does make more sense if its going "oooh oooh oooh banana oooh ooh" and getting other shutter monkies gathering round you doing the same. :D

Now I understand its this...

OOHH MMYYYY GGGGOOOODDDD!!!!!

I am guilty of chimping your honour I confess and will come quietly!

I didn't mean to do it honest guv...

I pride myself on not chimping... no really - my camera has no zoom on preview feature so its a bit pointless & instead results in me wandering around muttering to myself "god I hope thats in focus" or "If I take twenty shots of the same scene, one of them has to be in focus"

sat with tears in my eyes cant see the keyboard laughing so hard. oh my god i can so see my self doing just this every time i go out with my camera. thank for the laugh.

:agree:

Yesterday the sunset over Ilkley Moor was spectacular, after taking a few shots I called hubby over saying, 'Oooh oooh Bob, look at these, oooh they're... .' Then stopped and burst out laughing 'cos I remembered this thread.

Is there any cure for this affliction? I need help

You do of course realise that my new photo assignment for tomorrow is to catch you chimping?

You'd best watch your back Mike ;)
