Who's the best band you've seen live?

Paul Weller @ Brixton was insane!
Muse @ Wembly also awesome.
UB40 @ Le mans 24 hour was good.

Laura Marling @ Waterfront Norwich... Also absolutely superb!

The Sensational Alex Harvey Band at Reading in '77

Tangerine Dream at Shepherds Bush in 1995.

Although to be fair, it was the only concert I've ever been to. :D

Best band I ever saw live was The Cardiacs. Utter genius.

The Smiths @ Loughborough University around 1984 (rescheduled after Morrissey got hit by a daffodil)

BB King
Joe Stariani

Never actually saw them but when I lived in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk in the early 70's Slade played the Corn Exchange.....we listened to the Gig in our back garden......3 miles away:bonk:

Fleetwood Mac (last year in Ireland - simply sublime even after all these years!)

Muse, so many times but @ Albert Hall was spellbinding

Rage-ATM @ Brixton Academy - My first ever gig, I was 17 and they were supporting Suicidal Tendancies - Stole the show and gave me one hell of an attitude in my younger years ;)

James V'99 and V'09 - They are awesome live

Mark Knopfler - Albert Hall 2011 (What a legend) Why did I leave it sooooo long:(

Saw RUSH for about the 6th time on Monday night at Sheffield Arena - another stonking 3 hour + show - my all time favourites. Also;
Porcupine Tree - another good live band - Steve Wilson is brilliant.
Loudest band ever that I saw were The Clash with Mickey Dredd as support. I learnt what tinnitus was the next day.

I'm off to the O2 to see Rush next Wednesday. I haven't seen them in about 30 years. Really looking forward to it. My 20 & 14 year old sons are coming with me.

I think you'll enjoy the stage set as well as the variety of material they play.
Have a great time. (The ringing in my right ear has now stopped)

Tencaious D
Funeral For a Friend
Stereophonics
Rage Against the Machine
Feeder

They're just a few. Don't go to gigs as much as I used to anymore :(

GreenDay were best for me, Then OMD, U2, Ultravox, Gary Numan (2 year ago). Prince was excellent as were Eurythmics and The Christians.
First Gig ever was Hazel O'Conner at Newcastle City Hall - supported by Duran Duran.
Me first and the gimme gimmes are definately worth a watch, very good night out.

Queen @ Wembley Stadium. Absolute class.
Dire Straits @ Woburn. Brilliant.
Gary Glitter @ NEC. Hilarious.
Eurythmics @ NEC. Great voice.

Don't laugh, but aside from Pink Floyd (Roger Waters really, saw the wall last week at the O2 on the night Gilmore showed up), The Pet Shop Boys put on a good show.

Oh, and Level 42,
And Maze.........

Rammstein, absolutely amazing show.

Gary Numan, just gets better with age, seen him 18 times now.

I prefer small venues for the intimacy, and 30 Seconds to Mars and Feeder at the UEA were great shows.
Other favourites are Stereophonics, James, Echo & the Bunnymen, Simple Minds, Ultravox, Skid Row, Ministry .. used to go regular to gigs, not so much now.

Worst has to be Republica, they were pants

December 1st 1980:thumbs:

my fave concert was by China Crisis at the customs house in south shields the organizers had set the sound system up wrong.
so the band had to rehash the gig and it turned out to be a very intimate performance with a small audience. they stopped half way through and everyone including the band went to the bar then came back in for the second half.
It may not have been as raw as the ramones at Barrowland or floyd in vienna but shines out as an experience i will never forget.

Tough call for me wheteher it was Guns & Roses (original line up) in 93 at the bowl, or Green day last year at the LG Arena, both awesome & had the whole crowd in their palms.

Don't laugh, but aside from Pink Floyd (Roger Waters really, saw the wall last week at the O2 on the night Gilmore showed up)

I'm going tomorrow in Manchester, I'm hoping it's as good as the reviews say it is

Probably kasabian, seasick Steve, pendulum, the libertines and cypress hill :)

The loudest band I ever heard was Ian Dury and the Blockheads who didn't have a big PA but in a concrete gymnasium in Swindon, the sound was crystal clear ... until you headed home and realised your ears were going to ring all week. :bang:

The best gig ever was Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen who I booked for Bristol University and who really rocked all the hippies and heads and punks who hadn't known what to expect ... but years later, an American friend told me he'd been at a soggy-wet outdoor festival in Northern California but when the good Commander came on stage the rain stopped and the sun shone and a rainbow lit the sky! :)

Madness 1983 Carlyon Bay, Cornwall
