found innocent of being unfit to practice.... but i was guilty until proven innocent, however i still need to do stuff just for them to make sure, but im happy and releaved, because i never thought about my taking photos of people on the street, to be immoral, i have to write essays on it and respecting people etc for them to just make sure, it wont be a problem coz of this bad stuff going on i have now got a phobia of my camera i look at it and feel sick :S but hey ho i just gotta get over it. i dunno *** they did suggest i stop taking photos if i want to be a social worker. so i dont know what ill do yet. bt thats my first victory being cleared of being unfit to practice :) but the damage to my confidence has been done unfortunatly... now gotta get over my ex being pregnant.... lol one step at a time ;)

Congrats and my sympathy/understanding for the annoying aspects.

A social worker wouldn't appear in a nekkid charity calendar yet he's allowed to be a Morris dancer (surely a criminal offence?). The ladies of my village will be in the next calendar and obviously some of them and/or their partners won't be comfortable with the idea, and won't understand how photographers switch off basic human charactersitics to get the shot they want. It's a hunter-gatherer thing: some shots we actively pursue, others we collect with patience, but the "morality" is feeding our tribe or art while trying to maintain a win-win situation for all involved.

Sorry, too much juice?

Unfit to practice Morris Dancing? Its funny cos I was on Blackpool about when you posted this and it looks like you were even more leathered than I still feel.

Dear Mr BB,

Ashers has someone judging his actions as immoral.

To varying degrees as togs we concentrate on capturing
images while ignoring "morality" or the sensitivities of others.

How to accomplish this?

The Morris dancing comment was just some feeble humour, not related to Ash (apart from the social work connection).

The guy in question was lined up to be in a nekkid calendar but pulled out due to his job. Same with a teacher, but a couple of others are using the experience in those corporate exercises indulged in by those with proper jobs and suits.

OK, calendar published and now the guys' partners want to do one for 2010. After the initial enthusiasm I'm now receiving comments that at least some of the ladies would prefer me not to be involved. I know I can do the job without looking at them in "that way".

You're making about as much sense as the op

He did a naked calander of some blokes. Some of those blokes pulled out due to work (Ashers was one). Now their missus's want a calender done of them, but they want a different photographer.

Simple enough :D

Gary.

finally, a post that made some sense to me :)

i wasnt going naked in a calander? wtf???? im confused :S

Ashers wasn't in the buff in any calendar I've done.

But a social worker might've been, and Ashers is training to be one, I believe.

From the OP it sounds as though the powers-that-be for social workers judge
any street work as "immoral" and want Ashers to convince himself that that's
the case.

There are regular discussions and variants of the old joke about what
we feel comfortable doing in various circumstances.

Any feeling of discomfort is usually forced on us by others, I feel.

Taken to the extreme, what we are about is capturing the image, divorced
from any conception of morality. At the extreme end of the scale there's a
combo of legal, social and personal constraints to control us, and rightly so.

In my case I know I can take shots of friends' wives and behave professionally,
but I don't know whether it's worth the potential hassle, due to the opinions
of others.

Someone I know via the Web documented the death of his girlfriend in hospital.
Non-togs mostly recoil at the thought of similar work, but then they wouldn't
work at an undertakers or abattoir either.

Over simplification:

If your ex is pregnant - she's your ex! - so why not wish her well, forget about her and move on.

Okay this is perhaps ignoring years of intimate time/ emotions /hopes /plans but you know in a way it makes sense. Is that being strong minded, ethical or just cold?????

Your ex is pregnant and you want to drink to her ill health. That is sick! I am going to stick my neck out here, based on this and other threads you have started and say, I sincerely hope you never make it into social work or any other caring proffesion. On a SERIOUS note, get some help Ashers.

:agree:

Oh and one other thing. There are somethings that you should post on public forums and somethings you should keep to yourslef...

OP - Do you smoke the funky stuff like 24/7.. from all of your posts it seems like it! Also your a fair bit sick in the head if your wishing an expectant mother ill health.. so what shes your ex? get over it and move on..
