After getting my AE-1 program before Christmas, I eagerly put the film in and took a few snaps. Got to 24 so decided to wind it back, about two turns and winder went loose. Turns out I hadn't put the film in correctly and haven't got a single shot lol. :facepalm:

Guess you live and learn :whistle:

Awwwww that's a b****r!:banghead::D

I did that the first run with my FE2 as the film take up spool goes bakwards.

sheesh

In all honesty i hate loading but i then get just as stressy at the end when it comes to winding it back, first time the lever went spinning ( came out of my hands)... stressy T i was lol

I've loaded a second roll in and made sure it was wound correctly before shutting the back..............................famous last words.

thats what I do also make sure as you wind on the other side lever goes round :-)

Thanks for showing I'm not the only one who does this. I've also on a Mamiya 645 opened the back of the magazine by mistake so film counter zero's and then winds on before you can take any more shots ...... result 3 shots and a lot of blank film :arghh::oops: :$

do you mean it goes clockwise as seen from above the camera ? i think the reason it goes that way is because it bends the film leader away from the shutter when it is rewound ,,,saves dragging it across the shutter after every film .

I once shot a whole roll of film, or at least I thought I did of a series of boat races on the Thames with an FM2n only to find the camera was empty when I started turning the handle to rewind the film. I felt so dumb. Probably not helped by the girlfriend siting beside me laughing.

ive done that :(
20 roll of old ektar, was trying to eak a extra shot or two from it, and it must of just come abit loose after i closed back and never wound on D:
think i took about 60 pics with that roll probably xD. last 20~ after proper loading

I usually get suspicious when I reach frame 36... On a 24 exp roll...

C'mon guys how can you not load a 35mm SLR properly, so hands up who doesn't bother to read the instruction manuals :p......erm well ok it's happened to me a few times and only cos I was in a hurry and didn't bother with the basic rules :eek:

These things happen, and I'm sure they happen to experienced people too. Back in the film days I could "feel" the film winding on when I cranked the lever on my F2 and FM. I don't use them so often now, and I'm not sure I'd be able to sense this quite so well. I'll just have to be more careful!

I developed the habit of winding the rewind back to tighten it every so often - just to satisfy that dark and nagging fear lurking behind my eyes :eek:

The wobbly bars on the back of some of my Pentax bodies are appreciated for just that reason. Nice to have confirmation that the film's loaded!

I could hear the film go in my case, but it was the gears just rubbing the film ...
