Who wears a Photog Vest?

Not got a vest as such...but have my jacket which looks like this:

It's got more pockets (12 at the last count...still finding them ) than I know what to do with...the main ones of which will hold my 70-200 2.8 IS and still close!

Here it is .......I tell you something....mind didn't cost £160 Seems I'm almost invisible to infra red cameras with it too!

Being serious I own 2, ones an unknown make, the others an assult vest (similar-ish to the one shown) the problem I find is while they are usefull for load carrying they suffer several drawbacks.
One you tend to look a complete numpty while wearing it.
Two some of the pockets can be easy to steal from, some have open packets around the back etc.
Three they do look a bit iffey to ware around town say, and these days joking aside could actually get you shot.
Four, for me the biggest problem they can be hot to wear in summer, and once you take it off you loose all the advantages plus your expensive kit is usually lying on the floor.
Five trying to wear a coat or waterproof over one can be a nightmare in winter, again once you put the coat over it all the advantages are more or less gone.

I use a Rohan windproof smock. It's got one very large pouch type pocket at the front and two large handwarmer pockets.

It weighs virtually nothing, packs very small, and is ....erm .... windproof.

Have had it for about ten years and it looks as good as new.

Unlikely to get mistaken for armed police though. Is that an advantage or not?

At race circuits I do and it means I can leave my bag in the car. With two cameras over my shoulders i can stash everything I need around my body without needing a bag.

I (and the photographers I work with) wear HiVis vests for my events with my logo on the back - does that count?

i got a body warmer with loads of pockets and I am well pleased. I feel much more comfortable when rolling around in the undergrowth as all my stuff is well zipped up.

For the record, I would quite like one of these, but being short of stature and particularly short in the 'body' department, would need to find a small one, ergo, it would probably hold less

Wouldn't be caught dead in one. And as for the denim suggestion...:shake:
