Right, I've heard all the buzz about Twitter, I've signed up, I've found Marcel on there lol. So now what :shrug:

What's it all about then?

Who Twitters and why? How is it going to change my life? :help:

Oh and can you get poked on Twitter :naughty:

I keep hearing about it too and it makes me feel a little out of the loop that I havent got a clue.
However, I have Myspace, I have Facebook ... do I really need something else to report to everyday :shrug:

I don't do Facebook or Myspace so I thought I'd try being a Twit :shrug:

I do feel a bit left out 'cause I'm not getting poked though :naughty:

Too true! Facebook is enough/too much! Keeps me in the loop and that's enough for me!

... And Im sure you'd make a very good twit, Paul! ;)

But if you REALLY want poking, and a SUPERPOKE at that, think you'll have to do the facebook thang! :D

Hey Janice...

Well, firstly I had a clone of my site set up, with copyright infringement et al, but facebook at least took it down. Secondly... some people who misbehave on certain forums and get themselves banned or on restricted access end up collaborating and writing scathing, deeply personal and offensive comments about others and their family, and there's nowt one can do about it.. :)

Sorry that's a it vague, but I am a little sensitive about it atm.
 
They can write whatever they want whereever on the net. Thats not a facebook issue. The only way they can write on your wall is if you add them as a friend.

Sure Pete, but they did it on Facebook. It's not what people write on ones wall... its the sites they are allowed to set up in the first place.
 
I'm on Twitter (see my sig - feel free to follow me). Its a tool that hasn't yet found its real power, I think. Sure, there's a lot of inane banter going on. But there is more to it than that. The links Pete posted above about the Liverpool Twestival show that it can be a really powerful and useful marketing / networking tool.

More and more journalists are using it both for the dissemination of information (links to articles, blog posts etc) and also to get news and views in from the community. I was talking to a friend who works on the Scotsman at the weekend - with print media slowly getting less and less important (why buy a paper when its all there for free online) a lot of newspapers are working out how they can move forward in a digital world. The Scotsman is trying to develop itself within the community and Twitter is a part of that.

Have a look at @merseyshipping to see the sort of thing that could be done with Twitter. You may not be interested to know which ships are coming in and out of the Mersey - but it just gives an idea of how Twitter has real potential to provide real time, useful information.

I've met new people (face to face) as a result of Twitter and I think its great.
