Yes
It could just be slow postage (even though was next day for 1pm)

My mate put a cheeky offer onto a 5d mkii of £500 then it went over £1100
He then received a second chance as the winner couldn't pay
They said they would accept the £500
Even though in the description they were saving for the mkiii
And he has only 1 feedback point
It still hasn't turned up yet

Does this sound like he's been scammed?

was it ebay? can you post a link to the auction

Will get a link soon
Ebay and paypal

I know he will probably get the money back

If he paid by Paypal he will be fine. He will need to open a Paypal dispute for item not received.

Yep defo a scam they will have sent a second chance offer to every bidder.

Quick update
The money has not been released from paypal
But the seller has marked as dispatched
So the new 14 days before release of money is a good thing I guess

So it's not a loss for my mate yet

He needs to be careful that what he signs for is actually what he bought. (it has been known for an empty box to be sent!)

Paypal will not release his money to the seller until he (the buyer) has left feedback, there is proof that the item has been delivered (see above!) or up to 21 days if neither of these happen.

Hopefully it has been sent RMSD

EBay have said wait 8 days then he will get a full refund as it's suspicious

He needs to raise the dispute with Paypal NOT ebay if it doesn't turn up. Much simpler!

Is your mate the one who had the feedback for a 5dMk2 that sold for £500, with exactly the same text and pictures as this one?

Strange that they are selling two identical items for knock down prices.

If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, waddles like a duck, then its almost certainly...

SCAM.... Talk about a fool and his money...
I hope he gets his money back.

So he left feedback before receiving?

"your" "friend" aka "you" were stupid!

Is that really necessary?
That sort of comment is one of the major reasons that I no longer post on many forums.

Keyboard warriors, safe in their homes, insulting anyone they please.

It was not me
And I can prove it if you want
I've so far not been scammed once on ebay

oh come on... ok it was meant as a joke, and one of the reasons i post so little nowadays is people desperate to be offended and upset....

How often have we all read about "a friend" or "a friend of a friend" and it's the poster. Not saying it was in this case.

Caveat emptor - if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I took it as a joke
But it definitely was not me
I've had my mkii for over a year now
And if I had brought another one I wouldn't be posting
My wife would have buried me somewhere

I can't believe how stupid your friend has been. There were about 8 people who had bid more than him - some considerably more than him - so why on earth would he think that he'd been singled out for a second chance offer?

I don't know
He had put the best offer of £500 as soon as it was listed
He has learnt his lesson though

If your freind would like to recoup his losses i have some magical beans i'd be happy to offload for a bargain price ;)

yeah he has

ive just opened one myself for a Lastolite flash bracket
rather annoyed its been 11 days and no contact with the seller (even with good rating)
