Had a day of photography almost sorted out with Galaxy66 including a trip up to the Angel and then on to the bridges on the Tyne as the sun was setting but my better half decided that we needed more xmas presents so I wasn't allowed to go out and play? :bang:
Do you have the same problems when you just want to go out and take photo's where everything else seems to take priority over photography?

No :D

Such a lucky chap

I know:'(

Why should you be playing while she is doing what is necessary?

Playing comes after necessary, at least is does to the female of the species. :)

Come to think of it, perhaps that's why I don't get out as often as I'd like to..................

I've got a big thumb print on my forehead lovingly crafted for the last 12 years by my lovely wife.:(

( she's not that bad really):)

No.

I have my cake and eat it ... if I pick up my camera bag, so does Babytiger ....stuff shopping:thumbs:

I'm a mouse. I ended up at some crappy place looking for a 'christmas blanket' this morning because she had seen one at a friends and liked it. :bang:

Welcome to married life. I found a good compromise - go shopping and take the camera with you. 2 advantages.
1 - you can try street photography.
2 - with your hands full carrying your camera gear you won't be able to help carry any presents so it could make Christmas a little cheaper if she has to carry everything!

If #2 works she may even decide it's not worth asking you to come along next time.

Wives eh? Aren't we just great?!! We LET you think you are the most important person in the house, and somethimes you even start believing it yourselves  Husbands - Poor deluded souls!

Emergency tactics required:

Less 50%: "I'm off now to do my photography"
Better 50%: "you can't go because we need more xmas presents"
Lesser 50%: "Oh good, whilst we are out I need to get that Canon EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM"
Better 50% "Enjoy your photography dear"

Sorted.

I do what I want, when I want...

...as long as she lets me!

Thanks for the great replies.

My wife couldn't stop laughing, and guess what? She says I can go out and play once I've hoovered etc.

I know what you're saying, my biggest hurdle is I hate leaving the house at weekends because thats the only time were all together.

I love my kids around me at home (& the wife, sometimes) but I do feel a bit selfish when I grab the camera bag & go.
(I do take pics at my daughters football games though.)
I always think that I can go togging when they have their own lives to lead, but will I be over the hill then!!

When I got divorced, the papers listed "buying digital cameras" amongst my unreasonable behaviour. I had bought exactly one - A Sony Mavica.

Roll forward to this year. New life, new wife...

This year, I have bought two exceedingly expensive bits of kit. A 1DsIII and 200mmm f2.0.

We bought them from different ends of the country. The 1dsIII came from Haywards Heath, near the South coast. The 200mm f2.0 came from Kerso in Scotland. We don't like using couriers for expensive gear, so we drove to the vendor both times.

For the 1DsIII, my arm was in plaster. For the lens, I had work to do on my laptop. So both times, she drove me.

You've got to find the right girl. But this one is taken!

Ive found a pair of balls lately, are they yours per chance?

No to could backfire, she then may need to go out twice as she didnt get enough the first time

i go out when i like now, why not drop the missus off shopping and you go out and take pics, picking her up once your finished?

anyone can rule the roost as long as i get my sleep i dont mind :D

Try to cram my weekend photography into saturdays when t'other half is at work. I sometimes really do feel that this hobby is not fully appreciated by the other half of the species.

For heavens sake you men!! Whats wrong with ya?

If you dont want to be dragged around M & S why do you go in the first place? And why on earth do your wives want you tagging along anyway? Youre a pain in the arse!!

I dont get it.......

my wife supports me in my photography and she has put up with alot for me to accomadate it.
Since october i have been doing countless hours of overtime and doing my last bit today. She has to keep up the home front. getting stuff clean, cooking food, handling finances etc as i dont have the time to. I usually get in at 8.30pm and wake up at 6 am.

I thank her grately for it as if it wasnt for her helping out whilst i put in the hours so our finances are not compromised i wouldnt have got my new 50D and my 70-200 f2.8 IS that i am getting at the end of January.

I have sacrificed a lot of time with her and she is starting to man but its all done with. we will spend time together again and i will have days to myself to go out togging!

The mrs has now started telling me that I am becoming obsessed with photography. To be honest, I'm tempted to make her read Edinburgh Garys posts, then she'll see that I only dabble really!
