So I've had a blueyonder email address for over 10 years, it has been my personal address since Telewest plugged us in to cable.
About 18 months ago I moved house a mile down the road from my old address and was amazed to find a veritable desert scape of cable providers, all I can have is 1mb BT wet string :/
As if that isn't crap enough, after 18 months with no Telewest (now Virgin cable) I get an email from Virgin saying since I don't have any services from them any more because they can't provide them, they're gonna shut my address down :/
So now I have to sort a new email out and change 10 years worth of blueyonder.
Its gonna have to be web based because if before the turn of the millennium, somebody besides BT brings cable round here, I don't want to have do it all again.
So I've got a Gmail account, what I want to know is is there any way I can keep my blueyonder address, and if not I'd like to carry on using Outlook Express, can I use it with Gmail ?

Thank you good peeps of TPF

Gmail can pull all your blueyonder email in and you can set it to poll your blueyonder box regularly, you can choose how to send your email, as your gmail address or your blueyonder address.

The way I read it, the OP is now outside Telewest's service area, so since he's stopped paying them for the services they can no longer provide, they're going to delete his blueyonder addy from their servers. There'll be nothing for gmail to poll, and a blueyonder Reply To: addy will bounce. :(

It will poll till the service is removed and just because they say they will, doesn't mean they will.

That's how I read it as well, and it's how a lot of ISPs work.

Tesco do not seem to delete accounts, my mother is still using her tesco email address from the days of dialup even though she's now with an ADSL ISP (and yes I have explained that it might disappear at any time).
