I thought it would be interesting to see other peoples favourite photographers,

Here is mine, his name is Jason Lee, he is a wedding tog who also shoots his kids as a project. His work is amazing, I would be happy with just 10% of his creativity!

You'll need a cuppa and about an hour to go through his flickr stream, its amazing

So who is yours?

Wow, what a question.

A lot. Too many to list.

I LOVE Evan Kafka's style, his processing and lighting come together to make incredible business imagery.

Mcnally and Capa are of course both journalism and editorial legends in their respective areas. So, so much amazing work has come out the back of photographers working for LIFE magazine, it's unreal.

Crewdson has some incredible, cinematic work that you just... make a million narratives to in your head, the detail, production and style of every photo is just amazing.

edit: love http://www.davidlindseywade.com/ too. Check the drug bust series under 'portfolio'. Amazing scenes.

I went off looking for a link to a portfolio of work that the images in your link reminded me of and it turns out it's the "Room 107" series by his brother Lyndon

haha, wow, that's awesome! Love the 'shooting the porno' one immediately followed by the hazmat team XD

talented family...

Is it wrong that i don't have a favorite? I was wondering about this the other day and i don't have a favorite, i couldn't even name someone that i particularly like more than others.
I have no preferences from one tog to another really. I see stuff all the time though that i think is amazing, and find great inspiration from pros and amateurs alike.

I've only been togging for a few months maybe its still early days, 3 months ago i hadn't even heard of Ansell Adams or....... god whats his name?....erm....(i just asked my non-photographer girlfriend) David Bailey...christ, couldn't think of his name.

So yeah, is that unusual?

That's not unusual, well not to me anyway. I can't think of a single photographer that stands out as my favourite! I respect a whole host of photographers and artists Famous or not, but favour NO. I see and get inspired by wonderful images created by people that have just started out in photography as well as seasoned professionals! A lot of the time I'm not inspired by the bulk of an artists work but rather by that one or two images that catch my eye.

Thats good to hear, i was starting to worry a little bit:bonk:

OH I wouldn't stop worrying just yet!!! I'm completely bonkers don't you know!:cuckoo:

Maybe we could start the photographers depreciation society?? eh eh..:naughty:

Alexsandras Babi for wedding stories. As for others............so many I haven't seen yet!

I dont 'like' or 'follow' anyone. I take photos because I like to, and often its the subject that I like (or I am earning out of it). I do see other styles and maybe copy those but would not say they are a favourite.

I dig this guy, thanks for posting! Favourite? I don't know yet...............So many others to check out. One thing is for sure (IMHO) there are some inspirational pics there.

For mine you have to go back, and then back some more and it can't be nailed down to just one but a whole group, the great Hollywood photographers of the 30's & 40's.

I guess my pick of the bunch is decided by my 4 favourite photographs.

he has a blog that I look at here

http://kristinandkayla.blogspot.com/

and his wedding site is http://jwlphotography.com/

My two favourites are Bob Carlos Clarke and Andy Rouse.

I like Andy Rouse for his wildlife piccys but would not partake in his trips way to expensive £5,050.00 for week in the Masai Mara and that is without flights I think

I like all kinds of photographic work, but for sheer "Wow factor", nothing I've seen beats the artwork of Jean Francois Rauzier .

http://www.rauzier-hyperphoto.com/?lang=en

True, it's not 'straight' photography, but then few of today's photographic heroes use little or no post-processing . Whatever you call it - I call it mighty impressive :D!

I don't admire anyone - I like certain photographs not certain photographers

Very true. I'm not sure I've found a photographer whose work I universally love, normally there's a few bits here and there and the rest I could leave.

Me.

I'm a big fan of Chase Jarvis. Not necessarily every picture he takes but a huge part is his approach to things and open attitude towards the public.

I used to check out Vincent LaForet often, before the change to more video production. I really enjoyed his daily posts from his Olympic coverage.

I really enjoy Jim Patterson's landscapes and how he includes small posts with them on his Flickr.

Bob Carlos Clarke, loved it from a very early age.
Jerry Ghionis, his use of light is as close to perfection as I've seen.
David Beckstead, a composition genius.
Trevor Yerbury for sheer simplicity.

I don't specifically like a certain photographer, I like lots of different photo's. I'm mostly into people photography and wildlife/macro. I think there are lots of talented people who take excellent photo's.

I sometimes look at (over)processed photo's, which have had a true makeover from the original, great and very well done but not my style. I would vote for the photographer who doesn't have to do much to the photo's when pp. That's what my aim is.

I don't have a favourite tog, to be honest though I don't spend much time looking at the work of famous togs so haven't seen enough to develop a huge liking.

Some of the stuff I like looking at most comes from those not so much in the public eye to be honest, for weddings I love the stuff Guy on here produces. Aleksandras Babicius though, he produces some of the best wedding photography I've ever seen, it's pretty much flawless.

For general photography there's a couple of people on flickr I've become a big fan of, Siebe Warmoeskerken and DANiMANTIS to name but two.

For portraits I love the stuff that Yousuf Karsh produced.

Maybe I should start looking at other photography more, but I find a lot of famous togs to be overhyped to be honest.
