For me it is Stereophonics. I love all there songs, the lead singer has a cracking voice and they produce some amazing songs!! Would love to see them in concert but I hat big crowds and loud noises so you know....

So come on who is your favourite??

Pink Floyd
:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

Can't correct that thumbs up for some strange reason
They deserve all ten of them.

Dream Theater, a progressive rock band from New York. They've been going since the mid 80's and if you listen to many modern bands you can clearly hear where they've drawn their inspiration. I've seen them twice, both times in Hammersmith and they're quite simply superb.

I also love Muse.

Tabitha's Secret/Matchbox twenty/Rob Thomas

Failing that, a bunch of country artists none of you will have heard of:lol:

Varies from week to week but currently I'm right into Calexico and a number of instrumental rock/post metal bands such as Godspeed You Black Emperor and Explosions In The Sky.

Band I have seen live the most times is Metallica, off to see them in Chicago in January. Will be my 63rd and 64th shows.
But I love the music of so many other bands and artists, it's hard to say a defo fave!!!

Guns n Roses, seen them in 2006, amazing!!!

Sooo many....

One of my favourite songwriters is Roger Waters. Amused to Death is a strong and touching album.

Writer has to be the great Jim Steinman
Musician - Kasim Sulton
Showman - Meatloaf/Michael Jackson.

Contreversial choices I know but both Meatloaf and Jackson have put on some simply outstanding concerts over the years. No one writes like Steinman with such passion and Kasim is so talented its unbelievable.

Probably "The Cure"

Closely followed by Pink Floyd (any pre- The Wall)

Band - Radiohead
Musician - Jeff Beck
SongWriter - Jackson Browne

But there are many very close behind in each category!

In pop music my favourite writers are George Gershwin, Cole Porter and Brian Wilson.

As for musicians, my favourite guitarist is Danny Gatton. Amongst other guitar players I enjoy listening to are Eddie Van Halen and Les Paul. I like the alto saxophonist Willie Smith. Hal Blaine and Gene Krupa are my favourite drummers.

You won't be surprised to see Pink Floyd on my list, but also much admire Mark Knopfler & Stevie Ray Vaughan

Band - The Smiths - Turned up to their Radio debut with John Peel with "real" instruments no soundtracks and no tapes - just plugged in, played and sang.

Musician - Eric Clapton - Stands the test of time.

Composer - Leornard Bernstein - Doesn't get much better than West Side Story.

Definitely Meatloaf, Guns n Roses and Iron Maiden

Has anybody else found birdy961's avatar acting strangely??

If you run your eyes over the "musician" line, the poppy seems to expand & contract, groovy!

By the way birdy, time to get off the fence & plump for Dave Gilmour, you know it makes sense!

Some nice quiet bands for me.

Metallica - tickets ordered for MEN Arena next February.
Iron Maiden
Slayer
AC/DC - tickets ordered for MEN Arena next April
Joe Satriani
Queen
