Who has done the Canon to Nikon change

Finally a review that might stop people switching in droves. The first positive I've read about the 1d MK4.

FWIW, I keep switching between the relatively cheap upgrade to a 5dmkII or the expensive upgrade to a d700. AF vs pixels. Dreamy noise vs cropability. CLS vs Canon ETTL. If Canon didn't have such a lovely range of portrait primes (100mm f2.8L/ 135mmL) this would be much easier.

........... When features and performance were increasing at a pace, it seemed worth paying for, but now it seems like we are into the evolution and not revolution phase and so the previous comment about lenses rather than bodies being the focus is right

Hear Hear.

Don't you lot agree on anything? Cannon? Nikon? Use what your comfortable with.
BTW, a bad workman blames his tools, but it takes a craftsman to know the differance!
Eric, new to the forum.

Eric,

I know what subjects Dod shoots and its technically demanding.

As I always say no amount of self belief or skill is going to make that any better.

I sarted with Zenith then Pentax then Nikon, shot everything from engineering close ups, weddings, motorsports, studio portraits etc. What I'm trying to say is using good technique with reasonable gear should get the job done. I've been in engineering 39yrs and some of my mics etc. are made in China they do the job if used correctly, same applies to photo gear. BTW I AM an equipment freak, I love good gear.

i switched to Nikon for 2 reasons, Canons shocking customer service and the high ISO results from the D3, i would switch back in a heartbeat if the MK4 could produce as good/better low light results and could be had for a decent price, i also love the 1.3 crop for the extra reach on the Canon.

Canon simply cant be touched for their quality and range of glass either, oh and its cheapert too.

Well I see nothing there that would trouble a D3 let alone a D3s, still playing catch up IMHO.
