Nikon D40 - kit lens is 18-55mm AF-S DX
I have a slight loss of feeling/control in left hand - wondered if a VR version would help me..?
before I posted a "Wanted" advert I did a Google on new suppliers - the lowest 3 around the £100-115 looked ok, till I did a "Google complaints" search and all 3 were slagged off........offshore, no stock, late refunds, bad service

next lowest was Parks at £115 - anybody used them ?

getting a bit paranoid - guess I'll try OUR "Classified" for a good deal ?...

Just ordered one from Simply Electronics @ £105 and arrived today.

All looks fine to me (UK box etc.) - just took them a week to ship (stated 10 in stock when ordered)

Is that Park Cameras Hill?
If so, they have a good reputation. I bought a lens from them and they seemed very good.

I heard some companies took three weeks in the same situation so I guess you got lucky.....is that an off-shore shipment - so what was the terms of any UK guarantee?

Not sure I can name and shame a certain company on an open forum but if you want the name of a company not to use, then drop me a PM.

I ordered a 70-200f4L off them back last year, the lens was never in stock despite their website saying they had plenty, I got a phonecall off them wanting me to confirm my card details (it was originally an online transaction), they masquerade as a UK company, when infact, all they have is a mailbox in Oregon, USA and a call centre (which never answers) in The Phillipines. I got my money back, but only after a very long and stressful fight, I was one of the lucky ones.

Dale thanks - confirming your details is a "give-away"

I know of whom you speak !!.....

name and shame, you are only using facts :)

no i think the mods will quite rightly say that it is YOUR experience and as such will not stand up to any threats of libel action against TP

anyhow that's what another forum told me

Cameraworld, Calumet and (gasp) even Jessops have given me excellent mail-order service. All genuinely based in the UK and not selling grey imports.

You pay your money and you take your choice.

Cameraworld seem to have a good reputation and 2 bricks and mortar stores as well. For £107.99 delivered can't do much better than that for a s/h one from ebay.

thanks again --- email to them got instant reply and offer to put one aside for me -- cannot expect better than that...
