White Trees

[Sheep]

These were white trees against a light blue sky background last weekend.

Suggestions please as to how I can get the trees whiter and the sky a bit darker so the fine branches dont get lost against the sky.....in elements 5

Two things I can think of:

1: HDR

2: Meter on the sky, then use flash to expose the trees.

Or am I totally off?

Sorry haven't got elements I use CS3 but these two took under a minute each

use polygonal lasso tool to roughly draw around the sky - straight through the trees is fine (so that you don't affect anything else)

Then for the first one I selected replace colour and holding down shift ran across the sky then selected -10 for darkness

For the second one I selected the 'Background eraser' with a massive brush and just deleted the sky then created another layer behind with a rough blue gradient.

By the way my wife likes the Betula utilis 'Jacqmontii'.

There must be something similar in elements. Obviously if you took a bit more time over it it would be improved no end!

Instead of the blue gradient you could duplicate the first layer up the blues using curves and use that as the background which also works well.

thanks cowaski .......dont have the chance to go back and retake sambonebs, but the sky would be different anyway lol
