Yes
I'm after one of these but it's quite expensive for what it is... Does anyone know where to get a cheaper one or is this the price I should expect to pay?

Actually I think you will find that's quite cheap. Lastolite ones are about £100 for the double sided black/white.

I agree, seems to be a good price. But it's obvious from the listings that the seller doesn't know a lot about it, so I think it would be a very good idea to check that the surfaces are matt - if they're a shiny nylon it will be useless.

yeah ok ill just have to set it up,

Here they are...

I used my off camera flash below it to make a white background, however if you dont you see all the creases that came from the packing. I tried ironing it but it may take a few more times to get them out.

Is that the longest it rolls out? So you can only do standing up shots?

Well if you want to do laying down type shots you can lower the background height to give more at the front, but for that type of shot you really need a 6 metre long background.

yeah, kryptix, get yourself a 6X3m one if you want to be doing full length portraits on it. Alternatively, get a stock of shiny white tiles from homebase, for a really cool 'slightly reflective' floor look :D

thats as far as it can go, its still good for the price,

The lastolite one that Ed refers to is £110 at Johnsons. BUT, it's made of a velvet material that is light absorbing. It has as much to do with the material than the construction. You do need to make sure it's not at all shiny.
