Sounds like a gimmick. WB is so easy to adjust in RAW, why bother?

They average out the colour by diffusion, but in practice I doubt it's much better than auto WB, a better bet is shoot in raw and tweek after, another option is use liveview and scroll through the WB options till you find one you like then use that.

I think Expodisc is very expensive for what it is. If you want to try something like that they I'd opt for the lid off a Starbucks coffee, works fine.

As Wayne said, there are various options, including using a neutral grey card as a target. Whatever method you use, you will still need to do a little tweaking afterwards.

In any challenging situations I shoot RAW with a fixed Kelvin setting (any setting will do, but I choose the one nearest the conditions I'm in) and I leave it like that for the whole shoot. It's then very easy to batch correct later in something like Lightroom.

The cap I seen was from canon eos magazine it's a JJC wb series and it's only £7.95:cheers

I think I have seen a pringles? crisps top used ( a while ago) don't know if they are the same now though, it was something like that.

The expodisk is expensive for what it is. I've played with a CBL from 7 day shop, which costs about £15 I think, when setting a custom white balance and it does work. It's also very easy to use. I don't use it much, but in tricky lighting situations where I've not liked Auto WB, it can help. But as as I shoot in Raw the options to change the WB are still there in post; I've not seen the JJc one.
