Hiya everyone, a friend has asked me to potentially do some work for him, he is a web designer and his usual photographer has moved abroad with his family, he says the kind of thing they do is guest houses/self catering cottages/bed and breakfast websites.

Now my question is, I'm fine for exterior shots however my 18-55 will not go wide enough on my 550D due to the crop sensor etc etc, what lens would be best to buy/rent for this kind of thing? I've seen the sigma 10-20 which looks to be good, is there anything else I could look at?
Cheers guys :-)

AF zoom choice is down to two or three isn't it?

Canon 10-22mm and Sigma 10-20mm, and one or two others I can't quite remember... There is always the Sigma 12-24mm, it's a full frame lens.

I would go for the Tokina 11-16mm or the 12-24 if you are worried about the price. Both are optically very good, with slight CA issues but this is easily fixed. A used 12-24 can be had for about £250.

Canon 10-22 - way to go :D

Needs careful use indoors though as 10mm even on a crop body is very W--I--D--E.

Just to through another lens into the mix, i have the Tamron 10 - 24mm which has served me well. At the time of purchase the canon 10 - 22mm was out of reach, and so unfortunately was the Tokina 11 -16mm which had great reviews. So i went for the Tamron. It can be a little soft at the edges when wide open but overall have been very pleased with the results. If my funds had not been limited however i would have gone for the Canon first then the Tokina

I have a Tokina 11-16 and its superb for indoor work on my 600D (more or less the same body as yours)

When I was looking for a new lens, I checked out the Flickr groups, often find one with the lens your after, might have to go through them to find a interior type shot though

Here's some stuff I took with my old Nikon D300 and Tokina 12-24mm. I have since gone full frame for the benefits in image noise. I now use a Nikon 14-24mm which is defiantly better but not hugely so. The following were mostly shot at 12mm and around f/8. There are plenty more on my site if you want to see additional images.

I have the Sigma 8-16 and it is rather wonderful. The extra 2mm at the wide end over the canon 10-22 makes a world of difference in smaller rooms. Some people have a problem that you cannot use a filter (thou some have made some adaptions of market filter holders), but not an issue for me. There are plenty of reviews on the web so take your time and try some out on your camera if possible
