Which websites do you buy your gear on?

Whorehouse Express take some beating, as far as shear breadth of products and stock availability is concerned . I buy a fair amount of stuff from them, myself.

That said, if you want the absolute pinnacle of (Nikon) customer service, you should consider Grays of Westminster. Their prices are 'standard' rather than outstanding, but their service standards are ... outstanding ! (I should be doing their marketing).

IMO, it's worth spending 5% more, just to keep places like that in business .

Whorehouse Express take some beating

Eh? :D Typo, Freudian slip, or is that a commonly used nickname for them that I haven't heard

To the OP, for the smaller things I usually use amazon, warehouse express does have pretty much everything you could think of, for lighting accessories there's 'flash in the pan' on here, or lots of people talk about Calumet too (Never used them personally, but I think they're a pretty massive retailer as well).

The possibilities are endless :)

....

It's because of all of the camera/lens porn, which they shamelessly parade around on their website :p.

Morris Photo

Warehouse Express

and for great pre-loved gear at excellent prices and speedy service, MPB Photographic

Best prices for cards is Amazon. Indeed you can find some good bargains on Amazon so it's worth hunting around there. My calibrations software and Manfrotto Neotec monopod came at something like 37% discount.

I was disappointed by my one and only transaction with Premier Ink. What they said didn't equate with what they did hence never again.

Hope this helps

Cheers

I cannot complain about any on-line photographic dealer that I have used and there are loads, literally loads.

If the dealer is new to me I'll run a search on Shopping, Suppliers and Bargains, well worth doing.

However my Platinium award has to go to Park Cameras......http://www.parkcameras.com/

They are not the cheapest, but for me they are No.1.

Despite some Customer-Service issues well-documented on this Forum earlier this year, WEX would still be my first port of call for most camera and lens-related stuff, closely followed by Grays for hard-to-find items in the Nikon stable.
For studio and lighting photo-accessories, Calumet would also be high on my list.

I have mainly used Jessops for reserve and collect, and warehouse express for things to be delivered. Somewhere else for accesories is speed graphic and service has been good. I used camera world for the first time recently well priced and service was resonable I ordred two items one they did not have in stock but they called me the next moring (I placed the order 8pm on Sunday) and asked if I wanted to wait as they should have it in from the supplier in a week or cancel that part of the order as it was £20 cheaper than anywhere else I decided to wait. It did take slightly longer but as it was snowing a lot understandable.

I get a lot of my stuff from amazon, very good prices and very prompt service.

was going to say i wondered how many people that had said WEX so far agreed that in that thread they would never use them again

depends what it is though, batteries and memory then 7dayshop, as for larger stuff dont limit yourself to one site. shop around for the best price then, if its an unknown shop to you research their reputation.

ebay or MPB for 2nd hand kit.

I won't use warehouse express again after poor customer services.
Kerso is my first port of call for new kit but I discount my local shops. MPB for secondhand kit.

Had good service from WHEx every time I've used them, including being lucky enough to win a £100 voucher in one of their draws.

Also had good experiences from Devon Camera Centre for web purchases as well as visits to their bricks and mortar.

Never had a problem with Mifsuds via web, 'phone or personal visits.

Consumables usually come from 7dayshop and I try to keep a full set of ink in stock, so the wait for an order to arrive isn't too much of a pain for me unless I forget to top up when I use a cartridge.

Had great service from Digital Depot through Stuart (a member and advertiser here) - good price and swift delivery.

Had one lot of good service from Bristol Cameras and one lot of very bad.

Most of my purchases are made in Dubai, however on a few UK holidays I have used Warehouse Express and they have been great. Can't fault them and expect to sue them when I'm home again next year.

hard to beat camerabox.com
i have bough kit in the past so can reccomend :)

I won't use any single online supplier without shopping around first - that applies to everything, not just photographic equipment.

I tend to find the cheapest, and then work up in price until i find one i'm happy with. If it's something small, cheap and that doesn't necessarily need any particular "quality" to it (eg i bought some flash trigger cables from some cheap Chinese place via eBay) then i'll buy anywhere. If it's something expensive or where i think i may need the warranty service (eg i recently bought a new lens online from Park Cameras) then i'll find the cheapest "reputable" UK-based dealer.

So, for me, Park Cameras would be my first choice for buying new kit (they were particulalrly excellent last time i used them), but will happily go elsewhere if they're overpriced. After all, i chose them the first time based only on price and their website, and that went well, so if i stick with just one retailer forever i may be missing even better shops without ever knowing it!

I have tried various places but I have yet to find anyone close to SRS Microsystems for quality of service, helpfulness, friendlyness and very reasonable prices.

www.jackofallgames.co.uk you wont find cheaper...and great customer service

do not recommend these guys at all. I ordered a Sekonic light meter from them. The order was never shipped.

they didnt reply to countless emails and never answered the phone or return my calls.

Fortunately I paid through paypal and was able to open a dispute and reclaim my money.

www.mifsuds.com - I got my E520 from them at a bargain price (not even scondhand on ebay was cheaper!) and they had Excellent service.

Apart from that Ebay is really my main port of call as I tend to buy Secondhand.

T4 cameras for me, good website and good shop in Swindon where I live

Whoever it was mentioned www.7dayshop.com, it might have been another thread, thanks i've just bought a 8gb Transcend CF card for £10-99 saving a massive massive 19-99 !

Nice one Graham, Ive just ordered a 32gig Transend Compact Flash card for £39.99, instead of £89.99!! how good is that?

Can't beat www.digitaldepot.co.uk luckily the shop is local to me, but before I knew that I had bought memory cards and bits off the web!

Plus the guys there are quality! ;)

Kerso, Harrison Cameras, and Mifsuds.

Although London Camera Exchange's website isn't very helpful for new kit, it's very easy and handy to browse their secondhand stocklists....even to the point of finding an item cheaper between stores in different parts of the country!

I purchased from Jessops a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM. This was a christmas surprise for my partner. I found Jessops to be extremely helpful and would highly recommend.
