Which speedlite for the 1Ds...?

Having just acquired a 1Ds, I now no longer have a pop up flash. The only time I use flash is for fill, otherwise lighting is not a problem as I use a fast prime lens, so I'm not needing something super strong.

So, which zapper would the boards recommend?

Easy... 580EXII if money's no problem and the 430EXII if it is!

Failing that either of the older 580EX or 430EX models are pretty good and likely to be more 'compatible' with your older 1Ds

I agree with Si, or if you want some thing really cheap with good value for money look at the Metz 48 AF-1, it's ~£175 new and ~£100 used. It's spec'd like a 430EX but has a built in bounce-card and has a guide rating of 48 obviously.
