Hi.
I recently got a shiny d810. but now I'm looking to add to my lighting. in the future I'll be looking at studio strobes.
But for now I need something small and effective so I'm looking at speedlights.

It seems the sb600 seems like a good all rounder. but I have seen the yongnuo yn600ex-rt. is there much difference between the two and is there any reason I should choose one over the other?

SB-700 is a nice speedlight if you go Nikon.

I havent used any others apart from a Nissin i40 which was pretty good for the price and size!

Not sure if the yn600 is for Nikon, thought it was for Canon only.

If you want Nikon then have a look at sb700, 800, 900 or 910. If you don't want to spend as much then yn568ex or shanny sn600n for TTL or yn560 for manual.

I actually meant the sb700 as it was one around the 200 mark.
The yongnuo I looked up was the YN565EX.

I've just looked up the yn568ex.

What are the main differences between the 3?
As the price difference is quite significant.
Is it likely that the yongnuos have any features I would miss?

565 does not have HSS but 568 does, not tried that on my shanny so cannot confirm.

I have had the 565 but prefer the shanny over that.

Also are you using the flash ocf or on the body?

I'll be using it on the body to bounce off the ceiling.
And I'll be using it off camera through an umbrella, softbox and other modifiers

Not tried the godox range but worth a try, for ocf you would need triggers so before you buy a system see which offers the best options. I use the yn622n and tx with the yn565, shanny and also my sb800.

Thank you for everyones help.
I just ordered the 568 and a yn622N kit.
As well as a speedlight softbox and stand.

It won't be long until I'm posting pictures here.

Thanks again
