Which should i get first?

If you haven't got a lot of cash, don't buy from Jessops.

You can save £ 40 on the grip, £ 30 on batteries and you can probably get the filter (which I wouldn't bother with personally) cheaper as well. There is £ 70 which can be put towards a lens. Jessops is convenient but you're paying top dollar for being able to take it home immediately.

Only buy from Jessops if they are the cheapest, if you are paying the full price then having a "mate" there isn't doing you any good whatsoever and don't think that it'll help you get stuff sorted any quicker, I've been three weeks trying to get the eejit manager at our local branch to understand that a 72mm bayonet-fit lens hood won't go onto a lens designed to accept a 58mm threaded one.:bang::bang:

WOW sounds like a good choice to get it from there, thanks for finding it for me

Err, so you have the choice of paying 339 from kerso Direct, 359 from kerso on eBay or 379 from a random website... and you choose the latter? Hmm

Edit: Ok, you were being ironic, I've had one too many beers. Apologies!!

Definately lens first, however in your defence where the hell are all you guys buying grips for at that price. I bought mine months ago from Ebay, delivered within a week from Hong Kong, two batteries, a spare pack that takes AA Rechargeables and a close up filter set all for £65.They are even cheaper than that now.

If you are buying a grip just because you run out of batteries I think you're nuts mate! Seriously, go buy a spare battery and then put the rest of the cash towards the lens, at which point give Kerso a shout.

I can recommend "best price brands" for their service, my 1030sw arrived some 29hrs from leaving the west coast of the US. They send via UPS and delivery was fully tracked, I know that is something I think about alot when paying high prices on the net ;)

Spare battery (or 2) then lens then tripod then grip if you like the feel of it.

Then again, given the current financial climate, wait a little while and pick 'em all up 2nd hand when people have to sell their kit to eat...

Little update

Went to Jessops today and brought the grip, but when i got in the car and tried to fit it to the camera it wouldn't fit. Looked at the papers inside the box and it says "40D 30D and so on" but no 400D so i took it back and got a refund and got the battery instead. Now i am sorted for sunday :D

EDIT: I can say now that i don't like the feel of the camera with the grip on it. That has saved me a few quid for the lens :)

Canon BG-E3 Battery Grip £144.99

or.

Canon EF 70-200mm F4.0 USM £449.99

What do you think i should get first? hmmmmm :)

Tony

Why even bother asking if you have already made your mind up.

Also can I have some of that money you want to waste.

Choccy...

Hmm, okay i hadn't made my mind up when i started this thread....

I'm saving up for the lens now, don't like the grip

Yes, yes should have listen to all of you in the first place :coat:

Of course it's your money mate!

I just can't understand the logic here....you have x amount of money and want to buy certain accessories....ok, at Jessops you can get one item for say £100, whereas at somewhere cheaper, you could tick three items off the list for the same amount of money, get them brand new with exactly the same warranty.

Ok, there is a risk that one or more of the items may be faulty, in which case you may be a couple of days without whatever isn't working, but in this day and age, you seem to have more money than sense!

A few months ago, I was given £4,000 due to an insurance claim for stolen camera equipment. Now I could get the 300mm f2.8L IS for £3,400 through the insurers and a Gitzo tripod for £600. That would have been it, the whole £4,000 accounted for..

By shopping around, I managed to get the 300mm f2.8L IS, the 70-200 f2.8L IS, 40D and the Gitzo tripod for the same amount of money, with the same warranty as what I would have got through the insurers' suppliers. Items were perfect, no problems and after a few weeks, any faults that become evident are repairable to warranty, the same as Jessops or anywhere else, but haven't had any problems...

Just my 2p worth, but hey it's your money and entirely up to you. Just offering some genuine and friendly advice :)

Yeah i see what you mean, don't think i will be getting my lens from Jessops now anyways.

Tony
