Which SD card

Hi all,

Just got myself a new 60D and love it to bits, my question
is, which SD card to go for, bearing in mind the video capabillity
of the camera, it says in the book to go for at least class 6.

Which is the best one to go for and where's the best place to go for it.

16GB Class 10 Transcend from Amazon

I have the 60D and that SD card has no problems with burst shooting or HD video.
 
I bought a Transcend 8gb class 10 not so long ago from 7dayshop.

On a quick test the Transcend shot 36 photos in 30 seconds compared to my Sandisk 8Gb class 6 which shot 47 photos over the same period of time.

I've come to the conclusion that I've got a couple of sandisk ones for fast action shots and the transcends will do for landscapes and the such.

I think overall the sandisk high end cards justify the cost only if you need to shot very fast continuous shots.
I've got a couple 8gb transcend ones and they work okay for me, i havent tried with video yet on my canon 600d but i've got a sony HD camcorder for that.

In the end of it, its the cost you are willing to pay verus functionality you required.
 
I dont fully understand the class thing. I have a 4gb sandisk extreme class 4 and an 8gb lexar pro class 4. the class 10 dont seem to be as fast?

Class is just the min write speed of the card.

A class 4 card will have a min write speed of 4 meg/s but it can still write at 20 meg/s.

A class 10 card will have a min write speed of 10 meg/s.

Therefore a class 4 card that writes at 20meg/s will be faster than a class 10 that writes at 10meg/s.

I bought the same one for my NEX5, which works greatly with 1680x1080p HD video. speed wise, it's slower than Sandisk top range cards, but Transend is incredibly cheaper.
