Yes
This is a purely hypothetical question atm (but we all know where they usually lead don't we :whistling: )

Say that you had £400-500 to spend on a rangefinder and lens combo, what would you go for??

I'd like a mechanical camera, but would also like the convenience of apeture priority, so I'm guessing that it'd have to be electronic. A nice 50mm lens would be a good starting point, but with the option of adding to the system as and when.

Really I'd like it to be something that will last, as I'd like to be able to pass it on to my boys one day.

Do you think I'm (hypothetically) asking for too much for the money?

Cheers

Or,

Minolta CLE ( a Leica CL with electronics, really).Comes with 2 lens - the 40mm Summicron and the 90mm Rokkor. Should be available at that price ( 500 quid-ish)

Will certainly hold the prices - unless the electronic goes, in which case it'll turn into a door stopper (like all other electronics only cameras) :D

or,

Contax G1 + 35, 50, 90 mm lens. ( also a 15mm and 28mm lens available, and a zoom lens of dubious focusing capability) An AF, aperture priority camera, with one of the best lenses in the business.
About 300 for the body + 50mm , and about 200 quids for each lens. (The Contax flashes do TTL flash) and dont believe the AF problems on the camera that is written on the net ( I use it regularly, and only 90mm Struggle to focus in low light or fast moving objects). The lenses will hold the prices, since the chinese have found a way to mount the lens on Canon digital bodies.

Contax G2 or G1 - superb little camera - awesome Zeiss lenses.

I have bought stuffs from monark. A very decent and knowledgeable chap, and describes things pretty well. He always says ' camera untested' but they work. Good seller, and its a decent price for a green stickered G1
