Hi folks, I'm looking at buying a printer for A4 prints. I will be printing both colour and B&W and will be happy to spend around £200.

I've been looking at the Canon Pixma range of printers and from what I've read the MG6150 and MG8150 produce nicer B&W shots than the ip range sue to the additional grey ink cartridge.

Any advice appreciated.

In any head to head comparisons that I have read the Epsom printers always seem to edge the Canon printers.

for £200 you'll not get a new printer that does good B&W. save and buy an A3 printer that have multiple black carts as they are the cheapest printers that do B&W well

Epson SX515W had good reviews - I got one & am quite pleased with the results from it - althou I dont really print huge prints thou...

Maybe worth a look at as it comes well in your budget..

Thanks all for your thoughts.

What sort of price would you suggest for a A3?

Oh and which model?

Looking around it seems the model that replaced my R800 is being slated, and that's £400, which doesn't bode well :(

R800 was never replaced

I bought a HP 8750 Photosmart A3 printer for BW printing, it's an awesome beast - cost me £120 off eBay about 2yrs ago. I highly recommend this for BW, it prints with a grey cart so no casts and neutral prints. Just needs a large shelve:)

Epson make the best printers for photographic work esp. B&W period.

Thanks for your feedback everyone, I'm thinking I'll save some more cash and look at going for an A3 printer.
