Right, I am going to enter the Digital Camera Young Photographer of the Year Competition, in the 11-14's category, and the prize is:
1. £300
2. £150
3. £70

The most entries you can submit is 5, and I can't pick between 6 images. Typical! :bang: I was wondering if you could tell me which 5 images I should enter and why.

Cheers,
Jamie

Here are the images I have already entered:

Drop number 1, the weakest imo, too busy, no obvious focal point.

If you are avoided to touch up the photos before entry i feel number 3 could really use a little cloning to remove the 2 grey lampposts.

Ok cheers peeps!

I also agree with the above. No. 1 is the weaker shot. I really like number 4 and 5.

I'm not sure on number 2. It looks a bit washed out to me really, kind of like you've scanned in a photo from the 70's. However, I know some people will like that effect.

Regards,

Chris.

I agree, leave out number one.

You could also lift the levels in number two a bit ...slightly flat contrast on my screen...nice shot.

Number three needs some careful sharpening just on the bird and its eye.

Number four is a beautiful shot, possibly not quite straight.

Last two are fine, although you could make the daffodil 'pop' slightly as it seems a bit flat too.

Good hunting too you.

No.1 out too! Recognise no.2 as a previous Essex person! ;)

Straighten the horizon on no.2 and crop a little bit off the sky to get the horizon on the 2/3 line.

OK will do.

Ok, here is the edit. Better or worse?

Thank you very much! My Dad liked it so much I sent it to him via e-mail and it now sits proudly as his work computers' background!

It was taken at the slip ramp on the South Woodham side on the River Crouch, next to the Yacht Club.

Ok, here is the edit. Better or worse?

Yeah thats the kinda lift I was thinking of, nicely done.

Its a lovely shot I discovered whilst tinkering with it...wish it where mine :D... This is almost the same lift in levels as yours and I've cropped to focus the viewers attention on the actual scene, removing the distracting foreground and excessive sky as you did.

Just my take on it. :)
