Ef 70-300 f/4-5.6 is usm or ef 70-200 f/4.0L usm

Which to get I.E is it better to have the I.S or the better glass

I dnt use a tripod so was thinking the 70-300
 
Even though the 70-200 is a cracking lens i would go for the 70-300 as i dont think the 70-200 would give you the reach for wildlife.
 
IS not really that much of an issue, just up the shutter speed.

Just upping the shutter speed isn't a fix-all answer, although for sports (footy, cars etc) you're probably going to be shooting on a fast shutter speeds anyway so then it's down to ISO and f/stop....

OP - you really need to work out what priority you value most; constant f/4 aperture or overall reach up to 300mm...

I werent sure, i just remember reading somewhere that upping the shutter speed helps.
You dont particulaly want to use a high shutter speed for cars unless there head on, if you do theyll just look like their parked on the track.

Dex, I don't shoot fast-moving sports but you're right about the track car thing ( was thinking about rallying - freezing splashes etc). It's that three-way balance of ISO, shutter and aperture that is essential to using your gear effectively, and unfortunately, that's why f/2.8 telephoto lenses exist, so you have a bit more leeway when it comes to inputting exposure values. :thumbs:
