Got about £500-£600 to spend.

Quite new to DSLRs and still class myself as an amateur.

So far I've narrowed it down to the D3100/D3200/D5100?

Any advice? Will need it to come with a decent lens, the D5100 is £580 in Jessops and comes with a 18-105 VR Lens.

Fire away :) ...

I would probably get the 3100, maybe the 3200 then get a 18-70 second hand, and then a 55-200 or 35mm or 50mm depending on budgets and what you shoot

I second the comment above, the 35 DX f/1.8 secondhand is 100% worth it and it should be a must buy on your camera kit list :)

Thanks guys; the 3200 is 550 and comes with a standard lens so I'll probably go worth the 3100

Well I'll be talking pictures of sports, wildlife, landscapes, and one day close up shots of flowers, insects etc

Is there any particular reason you're only considering nikon?

The reason I ask - and please don't let this turn into a nikon v canon debate - is that in my opinion canon has a bit more choice for lenses for sports and wildlife such as the 100-400mm or f4 versions of the 70-200mm's.

It's not the be all and end all but might be worth considering.

I would pay the extra for the D3200, its a great camera

Decided on the 3100, girlfriend goes to order but secretly orders the D3200!

I'm chuffed. Thanks for the advice and tips :)
