After mutiple posts and borrowing a D60 off a mate. I'm pretty set on switching to Nikon i think.
With selling my Canons, i should have around 450 quid, which is enough to buy, what i think is some nice stuff.

At the moment i'm thinking a D100-Old but works fine, and has Motor built in. a Grip, a 50 18 D, a 35 1.8 G and then maybe somthing else.

Would anyone change anything?

I'd go for a D50 or D70 personally. Both faster and more modern, and better quality. I'd still be happy with a D50 today - my first DSLR *sigh*

Yeah i was looking at the D70, the D50/D80 are too expensive for me, if i was to also get the len's.

D70 or D100... I've seen the 100s go for around 100 quid. 6mp is more than enough, as long as it is quick to use thats all i care about. The 300D i have is so slow.....

D50 is at most about £50 more than the D100 on ebay - couple available under £150. Seriously, a D50 would be much better than a D100. The D100 is very very very slow. Much slower than your EOS 300D. The D50 is lighting paced, even todays standards, everythings is instantaneous.

As long as its got a Top LCD, has a Motor in the body, and takes CF cards, i dont' really mind! From what i've read the D100 is the best choice on a budget for that :P

Arggg do you need CF!! That's the ONLY thing with the D50 - but I prefer SD anyway!

SD is cool for Cameras the look like they should take SD, CF Is for SLRS :P I have loads of CF cards, and i don't really want to reinvest in SD cards :P

I'm cheap :P

D7000 takes SD ;) you could do a swap on here for CF to SD, a lot of people have. I'll stop littering your thread now!

:D

The D70/70s has come into the maybe list!

The plot thickens....

i picked up a d80 with only 6k clicks on it for your sort of budget in Jan, very pleased so far

theres a few on ebay for 200 odd

Butttt D70s is more expensive still, as is D80! Hence suggesting D50, which is most definitely the cheapest, but arguably the best value...,

Adding more into the Pot! I'm still looking at the D100, as it seem's rugged, which is somthing id like. I'm Not hard on my Gear but i don't want plasticy stuff that breaks. I'm looking at the D70 and D70s. But i've read that none of them have ports for external shutter releases? Thats something i kinda need, I've also read about them being rubbish for using flash's aswell. Any ideas on that?

Sorry for all the Questions. I'm a Nikon noob!

The D100 is ancient technology nowadays, you'd be far better either saving a bit more and going for a D200 or accepting the limitations of a D70/s

Yeah, D200 would be good. But i don't know if i will be able to fit it in my budget :( Will have around 500 quid to spend. And want to get a 50 1.8 and a 35 1.8.

What the going price on D200s?

The fact its old doesn't bother me that much, i use a 1d Classic and 300D right now so the age doesn't really bother me..

d200's are around £350-£400 normally, you could probably get a d200 and a 50mm 1.8 for your budget but youd be hard pushed to get a 35mm with it too...

Why not a D80? saves you an extra 100£ over the D200 so you should be able to fit a second hand 35mm and a 50mm 1.8 in those 500£?

I have a D80 which was bought last year as New (Old Stock) in testing ive put a huge 24 activations on it, all the accesories are still sealed only the Battery has been opened to put into the Camera, its basically brand spanking new

I also have a Nikkor 50mm 1.8D in pristine condition with a 1A filter, they are in the Classifieds

One of the differences between the D70 and D70s was the addition of a connector for a remote release.

I remember buying a new D100 back in 2003. I don't think I kept it long.....

Those prices would be from a dealer, with a warranty (MBP have a few in that range), I'd have thought £300 for one privately would be more than enough. Another £70 for a 50mm and £130 for a 35mm and there's the £500 spent :D
