Hi,

I'm looking for a Landscape Lens to add my kit which can fill the void in focal length I currently have.

At the moment I have an EFS 10-18mm, 24mm, 50mm and 55-250mm.

I'm looking for a zoom lens which goes from around 20mm to 55mm or beyond, so for that reason I've been looking at Lenses in the 24-70 and 24-105 class.

I'm going to be upgrading to a Full Frame Canon soon, but not just yet, so I'm not looking at EFS Lenses. As it will be for Landscapes I don't need a wide aperture so f4 is fine. So this Lens will be an investment for a FF DSLR or Mirrorless when I decide to buy one.

I was set on the 24-105 mk2 but there are some quite critical reviews of it, apparently it's even softer than the version 1 lens.

The 24-70 f4 also seems to have some sort of problem with RSA, or focus shift. Has this been remedied by Canon ?

The Sigma 24-105 Art sounds like a good sharp lens but without weather sealing etc.

Any advice much appreciated.

I’ve got a 24-105mm F4 IS L Mk1 and I’ve not had an issues with sharpness.

You're on crop? One of the better quality 17/18-50mm f2.8 jobs seems the obvious choice.

Yup.

I had the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 in Canon mount which at the time was cheap and was the first lens that made me think that some lenses were too sharp for portraits of girlfriends :D

I believe there's a very similar Sigma 18-50mm f2.8. The Canon 17-55mm f2.8 (I think that's the spec) is bigger, heavier and more expensive.

Personally I'd take one of those over a 24/28-70mm FF lens for the saving in bulk and weight and the wider focal length.

Will be upgrading to FF

Ah!

Ignore me then :D
