Merry Christmas to all.

I had a surprise pressie today, a years subscription to a magazine. I can choose between "Digital Photo" and "Practical Photography"

Looking at the 2 cover shots, DP seems to have a higher cover price and perhaps looks a little more in your face. PP has a lower ocver price but perhaps looks a little more serious?

Any experience or thoughts on these 2 so I can opt for the right one?

Cheers.

I would go for PP myself but I have little experience of either mag.

It's a nice prezzie though whichever you pick !!

I recieved the PP one for Christmas this year. Its a good magazine, however I have bought both in the past.

They are sister magazines, both from the same publisher and even share some staff. So their main role in life is to complement eachother, not compete.

Digital Photo is more expensive because it has a free Photoshop CD tutorial every month, but also a few less pages. Lots of stuff on post processing work. Practical Photography has a broader base and wider appeal, but you should be able to make a quick decision by flicking them both in Smiths/supermarket.

Richard.

Usually I'd go for whichever gives you the best "free" gift, although you tend to get the same sort of stuff from those two, their being, as Hoppy says, from the same publisher.

Digital Photo is more of a Photoshop/image editing magazine than a true photography one though.

I read alot of magazines last year and decided to subscribe to digital photo. I found most of the magazines were good for either the photoshop tutorials (such as Photoplus) or the phtotography theory, but DigitalPhoto was the only one I found that was good for both.

Four issues into my sub and I am still happy with it, so it gets my vote.

Plus it came with a Kata bag.

Thanks for your replies.

After reading them I thought Id go for Practical Photography as Im more interested in photography as opposed to processing.

However, I do know that I should learn more about processing as it's not something I really do at all, preferring to just take photos. Perhaps subscribing to Digital Photo would give me the kick I need!!

PP also does good coverage on digital techniques. I had a subscription to both of them for a while - and I was always happier when PP landed on my doorstep!

I've had both in the past but the PP subscription has exspired....I'm still getting DP and Photoplus... I do miss it but had to lose one :'(

Your Choice check them both out in the shop
