Which macro lens for Canon 400D

Hi All,

I am new this forum and I am bit new to photography. However, I am fascinated with macro photography and I am playing with my Sigma 70-300 macro mode and happy to learn on the same.

However, looking something for good, true macro lens either from canon or sigma make and used too fine for me. My budget between £150 - 200.

I heard Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro is good lens but it seems over my budget.

Please guide me and advice me on this. Attaching a sample image took with my Sigma 70-300 macro mode.

I was about to say the 100mm f2.8L

Iv just got it myself and I'm more then impressed with it but if the 100mm f2.8 usm is out of your price range then the L is WAY out lol.
 
Canon 100 f2.8 IS and non IS get good reviews if you have the budget.

Tamron 90 F2.8 Macro and Sigma 105 F2.8 are quite a bit cheaper and are also very good lens.

I have the Tamron and it never disapoints me. I have seen them selling on here for around £185-220 2nd hand.

I use a Sigma 105mm and it seems a good lens but if I was buying again I'd be looking at the Tamron 90mm.
 
i bought a 150mm Sigma, its awesome!
 
The magazine "photoplus" canon edition has an article on 16 macro lenses in the July issue

just now brought - Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro SLR from eBay for bargain price of £285 (used). I hope this is good for my learning as well.

If any one of had/used it, you can share your comments, feedback and tips for the same.
