Hi,

I'm off to Scotland in 6 weeks time for 2 weeks holis, I want to buy a lens for landscape photography. I just dont know which lens to buy and there is a budget of £200. I need some help on which is the best lens for my budget.

Many thanks

If you got the kit lens then you are looking at a wide angle such as the Tamron 10-24mm or Sigma 10-20mm

Not sure if you will get one for £200 thou

Landscape isn't necessarily about ultra wide angle - to be honest, your kit lens is wide enough for most instances. Besides, given your budget you won't really get anything wider.

If you MUST buy a lens to satisfy some craving I'd look at a Nikon 55-200 VR which will give you the ability to do something different.

where in Scotland are you going?

consider a 35mm Prime for sharpness as Nawty said its not always about UWA. Agreed re kit lens being wide enough

what kit do you have?

Sigma 24mm f/1.8 would be nice on a 1.5x crop body.

Repeat after me....Lens.... it's LENS, not lens.... :D

If your budget can stretch then I would recommend the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8. It's absolutely awesome on a Nikon crop and great on a FF from 15mm onwards. I can not detect any descernible difference between the Tokina and my 14-24mm - its literally that good.
