I've got two Zuiko lenses with my OM10 at the moment - a 50mm 1.8 and a 75-150mm F4.
I can't make up my mind to go for a 28mm or a 35-70mm next. The 28mm is appealing but the short zoom might be more useful, Any suggestions very welcome! Landscape, buildings, street scenes are my main interests.

50mm is the classic street lens, but a lot of people swear by 35mm. 28mm and 25mm f2.8 Zuikos are cheap so worth a shot.
 
You don't have to buy expensive wide angle Zuiko lenses...e.g. 28mm Vivitar close focus and Tamron 28mm are good, other good cheaper lenses that are worth considering are:- 24mm Sigma superwide II and Ensinor 24mm.......unfortunately these once hidden cheap gems are known now and the price has gone up.
 
Thanks both. There are a few Vivitar wide angles on eBay. Might try a cheeky bid on one of those. Nothing to lose if cheap enough.

With Vivitar lenses try and choose lenses with lens number starting with "28" these lenses are usually better as they are "Komine" made (Vivitar didn't make their own lenses).
 
Just checked and it does start with '28' - a bit of luck!

There;s no hard and fast rule with Vivitar glass, the Komine 28mm and 24mm primes aren't as good as the Cosina ones, but the Komine 135mm is a gem, and the 28-90 series 1 zoom (also Komine) is very admirable.
 
All of the first three versions of the Vivitar Series 1 70 - 210mm f3.5/f2.8-4 are very good as well, with the third one by Komine being regarded as the best 'all around' version as well as the sharpest (and subsequently most expensive now). Their available in most mounts with OM, MD, FD, F and K/K-A mount versions being the most common.

I have the original version by Kiron in M42 mount and its a fantastic macro lens as well with a magnification of 1:2.2, a small extension tube easily takes that to 1:1.

Also look for lenses by Kiron, they made and marketed lenses themselves and for Viviar with their manufactuer code being '22' at the start of the serial number. Their usually quite sharp and extremely well built.

Huh Cosina? Up and down like Sigma in that VG on selected lenses........ Komine have a VG steady reputation, same for Kiron, Tokina and Tamron.
 
It's nice to have a set of lenses from the Olympus, Nikon, Minolta etc but my experience is:- you can get similar results from cheaper lenses esp if you stop down...............and anyway it's the person behind the camera that is the most important. ;)

The person behind the camera can't control purple fringing! (on film anyway) :lol:

Ah! but programs can after scanning (do what the digital guys do) :lol:.....erm but I don't seem to get many CA problems using film and then it only shows at high magnification.

Good..... in that you can sell it for more, focus nearer to your subject and many say it's a better lens compared to the non focus one.....I should know the answer really as I have two CFs and one non CF, but have never compared them in tests. :( :dummy:
