HI I have just purchased a 70-300 NIkon AF Zoom lens off ebay and it does not come with a lens hood...

Today I was walking past a cash generator shop and I saw a few lens hoods in the window, one was a HB-36, i can't see anything on google but it looks like this lens hood is for the VR, will it fit the AF Zoom

I can confirm the hood in that pic is what I got fitted on my 70-300.

I did not recive the lens, i wanted to see if this fits

Isn't that the Nikon 70-200 vr 2.8 (mk1) lens hood :shrug: As I'm only going on memory as have the VRII version now.....

I wouldnt have thought it would as the fixings will be different... You could try ebay for a petal hood if you want that type of lens hood but it wouldn't be a Nikon one thou but an aftermarket version which would then be a screw fit instead of a bayonet fit.

edit: I stand corrected after looking at ebay - it seems that there are this type of lens hood shape for the 70-300 and are Nikon :eek:

Think that I should do some research before I post :$ :coat: :exit:

The HB-36 hood is for the 70-300 VR lens. If you have the non VR 70-300 you need a different hood as looking on Nikon UK it says lens hood HB-26 should fit your lens (if your lens is same as .pictured above) The lens are different diameters at the ends so hoods I wouldn't think will swap over.
