I bought a used canon 40d that came with 3 lens. I like taking portraits but am now beginning to enjoy landscape too. Can you tell me if these lens are good for what I want or if I should trade in, what would you recommend? ***

I have a canon macro lens ef-s 60mm, sigma 18-200 mm f3.5-6.3, and sigma 10-20 mm f4-5.6

The Sigma 10-20 is well regarded for landscape, I'd say the weak link would be the 18-200, but my advice would be to stick with what you've got until it is holding you back, then you should know what you want to look for in a new lens.

You got a really good starting kit there mate.

I had the 10-20mm and its great for landscapes if you like that wide, I upgraded to the Canon 10-22mm and noticed it a little better, not by much, I would stick with your 10-20mm.

The 60mm should be a good portrait lens, maybe a little long but definitely usable. Its a nice sharp lens with great colour. You could sell it and get a second hand 50mm 1.4 (about £225, roughly, second hand), You could sell your 60mm for round that.

To be honest I would stick with and experiment with what you got. The 18-200 is an ok walkabout lens.

The kit you have is great to start off with. As others have said the 18-200 is the weak spot but a good walkabout.

If you don't use the macro you could sell that on towards a prime. Maybe a 50 f1.4, 85 f1.8 which would be great for portraits.
